These past few weeks have been busy and full of so many good things!
The weather is getting warmer, the cherry blossoms are almost out (i am SO excited-pictures to come as soon as they bloom!), and the missionaries in our mission received iPads! ( that third one is
probably the biggest of them all).
Two weeks ago, our entire mission had the opportunity to hear from
Elder Russell M Nelson and his wife. At this taikai (meeting) we were
introduced to what having iPads as missionaries will be like. Then,
this past week, there was a roll-out of iPads throughout our
mission. Of course, as missionaries, there are rules, safeguards, and
training used in order to help us focus with our minds single to the calling of doing the Lord's work. I've already learned so much, and I'm so excited to see how this work will progress with this new tool! As the world becomes more and more technologically advanced, we need to learn how we can protect
ourselves now and in the future from temptation, distraction, and
wasting time. The Savior does not want to take us OUT of the world- He
wants us to learn how to do good in the world with the resources we have, without becoming the same as the world. Russell M. Nelson (who has worked as a surgeon and made multiple really cool medical references throughout the meeting) said, "We want to create a strain of sin-resistant saints, starting with this generation." Cool right? I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to use technology as a tool and become a more effective instrument in the Lord's hands. I'm also thankful that I'm receiving this training now! I know that it'll come in handy for the rest of my life, and that the habits I develop now will help me so much during my mission and after.
With this new tool has come so many new ways to share the gospel, including sharing the #becausehelives video with everyone on the street, on trains.. i love it. If you haven't seen that video yet, watch it and share it with a friend! I am so excited for Easter. Most people don`t know what Easter is here, and I love telling them about Jesus Christ, what he has done for all of us, and why we celebrate his resurrection. Because of Jesus Christ, everything bad or hard about life can become okay again. Because He lives, He is right there for us as soon as we reach out to Him. Because He lives, we all will live again too, and we have a the opportunity to live with Him and our Heavenly Father. I`m thankful for Him every day, and sharing this Easter message has made this year the most special of all:)
As for life here in Kurayoshi- life is good. The weather lately has been beautiful. Missionary work goes on. We actually found a lady who speaks English this past week, so we got to teach about the restoration in English- I was pretty happy. But no matter what language you say it in, every time I get to tell someone about how much God loves them, it`s always a good experience:) This upcoming week will be filled with lots of travel time as we`re doing companion exchanges with two different sisters! I`m excited to be able to work in different areas and learn from all of the awesome sisters in the Okayama Zone.
I love you all:) I hope everyone has a good Easter! Jesus loves you and He is always ready to help us with anything and everything we need! Also, if anyone has any ideas about how to better use Ipads with missionary work- i`d love to hear them:)
