Is this supposed to be a hike?
Hiking is a very different experience here in New York. We had a member take us hiking today but in all reality it was more of a scenic walk. I guess when all you have is hills, then a slight incline seems like a hike. So to say the least it was not what I was expecting at all but its was beautiful as ever! The trees here are gorgeous! I love them so much and I cant wait to see them in the spring when the leaves start to come back! :)
This week was pretty great. We had zone conference which was fantastic as always. We talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and its true importance. That is something I don't think I quite understood before my mission. I encourage all of you to go look up Presidents Nelsons talk titled " The Book of Mormon what would your life be like without it?" ( Or at least I think that is the title... I'm sure you all can find it! ;) But think about that for a minute. Or maybe even a second. What would your life be like without the Book of Mormon. For one I wouldn't be out here sharing the message of the restored gospel to the people of New York. Just some food for thought ;)
We picked up a new investigator! He is Chinese as well which shouldn't be a shock. He is amazing and I am so excited to continue teaching him! We also went to Horseheads for Blitz with our Sister Training Leaders. It was awesome as always! I got to visit this cute little lady named Granny B. She once again gave us dating and marriage advice after being shocked at how young we were. Oh I am going to miss her so much. While in Horseheads we also had dinner at the Reeders house. Sister Reeder makes doll houses and they were so cool! She had the craziest details! Sadly I didn't have my camera so I don't have any pictures. Sorry!
This week I wanted to share a quote that is from Elder Jeffery R. Holland. He said " Salvation is not a cheap experience". That is what we are here for. To learn, grow and ultimate receive salvation and exaltation. That is not an easy task and we would be silly to think it was. This life isn't meant to be a cake walk its meant to make us stretch and to go outside of our comfort zone. So yes Life is hard but it is also worth it because of our Savior Jesus Christ. There is a new song called " Peace in Christ" and I think it puts all of my thoughts into a few simple but beautiful words. "He gives me hope, when hope is gone. He gives me strength when I cant go on. He gives me shelter in the storms of life. When there is not peace on earth, there is peace in Christ."
