Shaking the hand of an Apostle

Hello! This week was so fantastic! I don't have much time, as always, but I would love to share with you all my experience of meeting an apostle.

So we had a mission wide conference so all 180+ of us missionaries head to Utica bright and early on Saturday Morning. We had to wake up at 4:15 ... yuck. But it was well worth it. Sister Rawlinson and I rode with some Elders from our district. Elder Coles was driving and I hope I never ride with them again. He is kind of a crazy driver to say the least even with tiwi. I felt like I was on a 2 1/2 hour roller coaster ride. Haha! But we made it safe and sound and super early. We had to be there by 8:30 and we got there like an hour early but hey we were meeting an apostle we wanted to make sure we were there! So we all sat in the chapel and quietly prepared. When he walked in the whole atmosphere in the room seemed to thicken. He walked in with this huge grin on his face and you could see the love he had for every single one of us. When it was my turn to shake his hand, he read my name and asked me how I was. He did this with everyone but he genuinely meant it. It was amazing. I felt like he was looking into my soul. But the love that I felt from him was overwhelming. I don't think I will ever forget that feeling of love and peace I felt while shaking his hand.

So that was obviously a highlight of my week. Other than that I got to go to Horseheads on exchanges. That town name is interesting don't you think? I asked why the town is called that and apparently a lot of horse died in that area. So when the settlers came in the found all these dead horseheads and so they decided to put them on poles and line the street into the town with them. And hence the town was called Horseheads. I don't know if I completely believe that story but hey it pretty interesting to say the least!

This week the topic of tender mercies seemed to be a theme. One man explained tender mercies as Personalized messages of love. That they are divinely designed and are often unexpected answers to unanswered prayers. What a cool way to think about them. I have seem an abundance of tender mercies while out on my mission so far. I never realized how much our loving Heavenly Father is guiding our lives. But he is and he is helping us every single day but we always seems to miss it. We pass by those moment of pure love because we are so busy and caught up in the world. I encourage you all to look for the tender mercies in your day. Write them down. When we do this we are better able to realize how much the Lord is truly helping us and slowly we begin to see his hand more and more. Tender mercies are all around us, we just have the take the time to stop and look for them.

I love you all! I hope this week is fantastic!

Love, Sister Keller

Oh! I also went to Watkins Glen today. No offense to Utah but the hikes there are nothing compared to these beautiful waterfalls in New York. It is beautiful here!
