Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina (Barrio 2)

Hermana Zuniga

Welcome to the Jungle

Greetings from barrio 2. (aka the Los Angeles of Resistencia hence my subject line). Here are points of interest this week:

1. This week I got to know my new area a little better. I came to the painful realization that I am in a city. It is pretty difficult to find people to teach in the city. Most of the people are a little more well off and think they don't need our message. We are still working our bums off here though.

2. We had lunch this week with a family called The Familia Fernandez. They told me how they took a trip to Utah to visit their son who lives there. They saw my tag and said "Hey we met a Bishop Stirling who lives in Bountiful." It took me a second to realize that I know a Bishop Stirling who lives in Utah!!! So Uncle Scott if you are reading this the Familia Fernandez says they played basketball with you guys. I guess it truly is a small world after all, Haha

3. So apparently there has been a lot going on with Donald Trump and bombs and Syria... The reason I know this is because EVERY SINGLE CONTACT WE MAKE IN THE STREET BRINGS IT UP. I think they assume I have some sort of contact with Donald Trump because they keep asking why he is doing it. I'm like... "I literally know nothing that is going on in the US." They also think he is going to bomb Argentina next. I don't want to break it to them that he probably does not care that much about their country but whatever.

4. This week in my studies I read in Alma 28. I really loved what verse 30 said..
30 And we have suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some."
Our purpose as missionaries and members is simple.. to bear our afflictions with patience and to bring joy to others through the gospel. Ammon and his brothers are some amazing examples of how we can do this. I challenge you all to read their stories if you have a little bit of extra time.

You guys are awesome. I love you all and I pray for you daily. Keep smiling.

Love, Hermana Stirling
