Season 13 Episode 1 The One With Pookie

What better way to start off a transfer than with some good ole' miracles?! This week we probably had more than our fair share of em. So I'm just gonna give the biggest highlights and then squeeze in whatever else at the end I guess?
So first of all, we had Stake Conference this last weekend. Elder Benjamin M.Z. Tai came and visited the Lakeland Stake! He was just called into the seventy this last General Conference and he was hilarious (but also super spiritual and amazing). I accidentally left my notes from it at the apartment, but if anybody wants to hear about what was talked about, email me or something, it was all good stuff. On Sunday though, after Stake COnference and after coming back home for lunch, we decided to get out of the apartment to do some companion study.
We originally had planned to just go to our apartment's clubhouse, where we usually do companion study, but the idea popped into our minds that we should go to the park. Now, in my 6+ months of being in this area, we have only been to this big park once, and that was for a relief society activity. It's just kind of far away, so we just stay closer to the apartment. But we decided to give it a go. We found a nice table, it wasn't overbearingly hot outside, and there was a good breeze. As we were doing our study, we also started messaging our friend Jude, who we haven't been able to get in contact with all week. He was replying, and we decided to send a message asking to reset his baptismal date. We sent it and nervously awaited his reply. Then, almost at the same time, we both turned around (for no apparent reason). There, playing basketball on one of the courts, is none other than Jude!! We were able to go talk to him and found out he is still wanting to meet and be baptized! So that was awesome!
Okay, then also while we were at the park (this might have happened before we saw Jude, sorry to get the order all mixed up), we get a phone call from a New York number. The woman on the other end said that she had met us a few weeks earlier on the street and that we had given her a card. She said that it kind of had gotten smudged and she wants to know when our Sunday meetings are because she would like to start attending!! We talked to her for a little bit, explained how the meetings go on Sundays, and asked if we could come visit her this week (to which she said yes!). At the end of the call I asked her what her name was and she said "Kerensa". Now just take a second and say that out loud. Then say my first name out loud. Then compare the two. Let that sink in. She said it and I was shocked. So shocked that I then told her my first name and she was a little shocked. Then she hung up and was like "Have a good day Crezna" AND IT WAS VERY SPOOKY. As a missionary, I go by Sister Merritt, and now she knows me only as "Crezna". So scary. We'll see what happens this week.
Other highlights of the week:-We met a man who previously read the Book of Mormon during a rough patch of his life, then lost it and hadn't been able to find it again. -We met another man who just moved here, loves the missionaries, loves the Book of Mormon, but said he loves his coffee more.- Our friend we have been trying to teach for awhile, Annie, texted us out of the blue the other day and asked if we could come over and also bring a Book of Mormon, a restoration pamphlet, and a Gospel of Jesus Christ pamphlet, for her friend who also wants to begin meeting with us, Ray. Moments later we decided to go grocery store contacting, and ran into Annie, her son, and her friend Ray! We were able to give him the materials and set up to meet with them the next day. We met and it turned out great! They both love it and want to continue learning more- We started talking to a man in his drive way, then his friend came outside and we started trying to explain to him what we had already started saying about the restoration. Then this is how the conversation went between us and the friend:
Him: "are you two married?"
Us: "no..."
Him: "Can I be your friend?"
Us: "....you can have this pamphlet?"
Him: *Takes pamphlet and flips it over* "is this your phone number?”
Us: "....yes....."
Him: "So I can call you at anytime??"
Us: "........yes?.......... we have to get going now...... what was your name?"
Him: "My name is Reginold, but you can call me Pookie!"
Us: "Okay, bye Reginold"
Then the next morning we wake up and we have a text from a random number at 1am that says "hey". Then we get a text from the same number around 6:45am that says "hey, wats up?" We replied apologizing for not having the person saved into our contacts and asked who it was, to which we told us it was Reginold. So we asked how he was doing and he said (and I quote):"can i hook wit u i like wat i see".
Oh boy! We explained we were missionaries for Jesus Christ and he hasn't replied since.
So that was my week. It was pretty productive, lots of miracles, lots of adventure. God is so good.

-A member who works for Disney bought us each out own pair of Mickey ears (which normally would have cost probably $10 inside Disney, but she got for $0.99 because employees have the hook ups)- the same member also got us these "Beignets" (pronounced Ben-yay-s) from Disney's French quarter. (@sisterwilson)- 2 examples of how Floridians decorate for Halloween  (No complaints)- Squirrel eating upside down, I thought it was pretty funny. Just dangling from his back feet. There's probably better positions to eat in. Just saying.
