I truly believe that Sister Hales and I are in the best area in the Alabama Birmingham Mission. I just feel so blessed! We have the best members. We have the best people to teach. We have the best area hands down. I love it here. Since coming to Corinth I have seen the spiritual growth of our ward. When I first arrived, it seemed like the members "babied" the sisters--Felt a little sorry for them. Wanted to feed us all the time hahaha (not that I didnt love their food of course). But now, they are wanting to help us, wanting to build the ward. We have multiple members inviting their friends to meet with us. Multiple members excited for their friends to come to church. Even our ward missionary leader is excted to meet with us to hear about the work! They are so invested in the people we are teaching. I think the turning point was when the Bean family was baptized. The members started to trust us more. The Lord is blessing Corinth. Sister Hales is doing great. I have seen her grow. She is becoming a great planner. Also, the ward loves her. She is so sweet. She's so likable! She keeps me laughing all the time.
Makayla was baptized and confirmed this weekend. A month ago her parents were so against Makayla being baptized. But Heavenly Father softened their hearts!
Highlight for me: We are still teaching Emilio.
Sonja (who was baptized a month ago) is teaching with us. Emilio is one of those really likable guys because he is so humble. He is probably one of the most genuine seekers for truth I have ever taught. We were teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. When we have faith we trust in Christ. When we repent, we rely on Christ. When we are baptized, we follow Christ. When we receive the Holy Ghost, we press forward with Christ. Emilio expressed how he was scared to try and follow Christ, knowing that he would fail. Sonja said "You need to TRUST him. Quit fighting. Tap out. Just trust in Him and he won't let you fail!" She started testifying how the Book of Mormon is the word of God. How this Church has changed her life and how she loves it. When I first met Sonja I knew she would be a power house once she was baptized. She exceeded my expectations!
Something I have been thinking alot about is this scripture:
Moroni 7: 13 But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspiredof God.
I try to filter my thoughts with this scripture. So I think, "Does this thought persuade me to come closer to Christ? Does it persuade me to do good?" Sometimes I feel like we can doubt and question ourselves. But if we follow this scirpture we can be confident in the choices and decisions we make.
