It's Sister Packard and Sister Knox. (My new comp)She is SO awesome and so fun to talk to. I have been so blessed with amazing companions! She is from Michigan, went to BYU-I, loves Lord of the Rings, and can do all kinds of different accents. I really like the way she teaches. We make a great team!
We are serving in Corinth, Mississippi!! The area covers some of Mississippi AND Tennessee! This area is huge. It's beautiful here. It looks like the movies. Straight up country. Everyone is so happy that I am from Texas. I can't believe I was sent to the most north any missionary can go, and I just came from the most south any sister missionary can go. (Alex City)
Our first day we were jumping from state to state. I couldn't remember if we were in Mississippi or Alabama or Tennessee. haha. We have an awesome ward. A lot of real down to earth people. They are all really fun to talk to and excited about missionary work. It's strange being in a ward...my goal is to learn everyone's name by the end of this week. This place has SO many big churches. I mean I thought in Alex City there were a lot but there are HUGE churches on every corner. We have a lot of work to do here.
Walmart: We talked to this woman and asked her if she had ever met with missionaries. She look surprised and said, "Did someone send you?" She was telling us how she has been trying to stop smoking and go to church. I have had experience after experience where we have been led to those seeking the gospel. The Lord places these people in our paths...no coincidences.
Alan Buckley: We received a bible referral in a place called Walnut, Tennessee. We drove down a long country road to an old trailer. Sometimes I get nervous about old trailers in the middle of the woods...BUT we said a prayer and felt better about being in the area. We met Alan. He told us how he recently has been trying to change his life around. We asked if we could pray for him and his house and his family. We said a prayer and read in the Book of Mormon. He said he needs Jesus Christ more than ever in his life.
Dana Thomas: We read in 2 Nephi 31 and taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One of my favorite verses of all time is 2 Nephi 31: 20 " Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father; Ye shall have eternal life." When we read that, we paused and asked Dana what she thought about the verse. She paused and said "It's hopeful!" and smiled. She committed to baptism!
I'm learning the ropes here and we are gonna get the ball rollin!! I'm excited! Heavenly Father is mindful of me and He is mindful of you.
