Sister McCreath and I had exchanges this week. I always love exchanges. I have been on 4 and each time I have learned something different.
This week Sister McCreath and I did a lot of preparing for meeting with the members in their homes. We were able to create a list of ways that the members can be missionaries. We made these cute sticky notes for the members to write 3 names down (of their friends, family, neighbors) and the 3 different ways that they will be missionaries on the sticky note from the list. Sister McCreath came up with this idea. She's awesome!
The branch handed us the entire roster of the Alex City area. They asked us if we could try to find all the less actives and see which ones live here and which ones moved away. Sister McCreath and I sectioned off the list in three groups where they were all closest to one another, then we created a bike route. We were able to knock it out house after house.
One house we thought was a less active, did not live there anymore. Instead a woman named Joy opened the door. I am trying to get better at being bold, and the thought of what we talked about at Zone conference came to my mind when the counsel was to " Try to get into the door asap." So I asked if we could come in and share a scripture about Jesus Christ. She immediately started laughing. She told us that her and her friend were just talking about how they have been praying for the Lord to send them something or someone. She pointed to the sky and said, "Thank you Lord!" We went in and talked to her and her friends, Loretta. We listened to their lives, trials and hardships. Then we read a simple scripture in the Book of Mormon. Immediately when we finished reading Loretta said, "Where can I get one of those?" We gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon. Joy told us we need to come back and she will feed us dinner too. Blessings.
Update on Danielle: She is looking into apartments for the Fall in Utah! She told me she is going to live in Liberty on 8th! We were not able to find a ride to the temple, but the Smiths said they can take us this Thursday! We are looking forward to it!
Familiaaaaaa: So we went to one of our investigators house Esther, who is a sweet Hispanic woman. We came to give her a present on her birthday. When we walked in she had her entire Hispanic family over having a fiesta. There was a dj and everything. When we walked in everyone looked at us and were so happy we showed up. They said, "Seeeeeeesterrrrrssss!" I was laughing so hard on the inside. They all insisted that we gather together and say a prayer. They asked me to say the prayer and then afterwards they served us Tamales and Mole. SO GOOD and SO FUNNY!
1 Nephi 20: 10
" For Behold, I have refined thee, I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction"
Heat refines metal and removes impurities. The refinement is possible through experiences that can help us achieve what God desires us to become.
PS: This is probably my last week in Alex City.
I had the best birthday ever!! Thank yall so much!!!!
