Loving These Southern Folks

Sister Packard and Sister McCreath here. We are for sure getting those leg gains. HAHAHA This bike riding is fun. I love our district. They are my friends. We are all determined to get one baptism. I told them we are brewing the baptism pot right now and we are going to serve it up really soon. Sister McCreath and I are trying all we can to build up this branch and it's slowly but surely coming along.

Some highlights:

Seek to understand: We went to teach a lesson. Right when we sat down, the woman seemed annoyed and asked, "So what are the mormons?” I was tempted to just blabber out all this information but I remembered what daddy told me—“Seek to understand, rather than being understood.” So we asked, "Well first, tell us about You!" She was suprised. She started talking about her life and didn’t stop talking. We listened. She shared her life story and began crying. The spirit was so strong. We shared a BOM scripture with her. She said she genuinely wants to learn more about the Mormons.

The coolest fam: We were biking along the train tracks and saw a family sitting on their porch. RM, Roderick, and Elijah. We stopped by and asked if we could talk with them. They are so funny. They have a big Barack Obama picture hanging on their wall. They said we could come back. We have been teaching them ever since then. After teaching the Restoration we asked them if they would like be baptized. Roderick thought about the question for a moment and then said, "Yeah, it's been about 22 years....I’m about due for another baptism! I'll do it. My son Elijah needs to be baptized too. ELIJAH YOU'RE GONNA BE BAPTIZED TOO."

We are truly seeing the Lord's hand in everything. We have been studying a lot about having faith. I have been reading in Mormon and I really like verse 27.

Mormon 9:27

27 O then despise not, and wonder not, but hearken unto the words of the Lord, and ask the Father in the name of Jesus for what things soever ye shall stand in need. Doubt not, but be believing, and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart

I love y’all so much. I am so lucky and blessed to have such a wonderful family. I pray for y'all every night!!

Love,
Sister Packard
