This week has been insane but for sure my favorite week of my mission so far. I am training Sister McCreath! She is SO awesome. She is from the great state of Wyoming! She went to BYU-I before she came out. She is the first missionary in her family and the first one to go to college. She loves plants, she loves people, and she wants to work hard. We get along really well! She is so down to do pretty much anything, which is awesome. She has only been out in the mission field for one week!
Hahha well you know me and you know how I am all over the place. This email is going to be all over the place.
We are about to go to the temple after this so I only have a short amount of time today to email.
Transfers: Sister Dimon is going to finish her mission up in Tupelo, Mississippi. The first night together Sister McCreath and I got pulled over. The police came over and said, "M'am, your lights are not on." I looked at him and said, "Oh shoot, you're right. That is really bad huh?" He just looked at us and said, "Turn them on. It's the switch right there...thereeee you go. Alright ya'll drive safe." hahaha BLESS UP!
Found a hidden Track: We love running in the mornings. One day we were running and we found a hidden track that I never knew existed! We got so excited and now we go running there everyday and then we run back.
I never rode my bike with Sister Dimon, but when Sister McCreath received her bike, we started riding the next day! It has opened up so many opportunities. We are able to talk to twice the amount of people. Hahhaa I really feel like a Sister Missionary with the bikes. Some people wonder why we ride in dresses...talk about missionary opportunities right there!
We were riding on our bikes and we felt like we should pull into Walgreens. No joke the second we stop, a man comes up to us and starts asking who we were, why we were riding bikes, and what the Mormons believes in. We talked to him about the Book of Mormon. We told him how it has changed our life. His response: "Really? Wow." He asked if he could get our number and he can call us when he reads the BOM. The rest of day we were able to talk to SO many people because of the bikes.
(Can you tell I'm excited about Bikes?) We were riding in a park and we found a hidden Fair that we didn't know was going on. Lots of rides and lots of people! GOLD MINE!
Another Story: We were in the parking lot doing some area book work and this girl who was parked by us came walking by to get in her car. The wind blew her car door into ours and she hit our car. She looked at us with big eyes as if to say, "Sorry!" haha We got out and her door didn't even leave a mark on our car. Her name is Danielle. We told her it's okay and then asked if she had ever met with missionaries before. We told her that we come and talk about Jesus Christ and His Gospel and how it can bless us. She told us that she was actually looking for a church. WOW! We set up an appointment and went over the next day to see her. We talked with her and invited her to church. She came to church the next day! She later told us that her Pastor, Step mom and Step Dad all ganged up on her and asked her if she realized that she was joining a cult. She told us that she told them to go and talk to a Mormon and see what they are like and then they can start making judgments.
Last night Sister McCreath and I had a lesson over Facebook Messenger. We talked about Prayer, asked her to read in Enos, and sent her a Mormon Message Video. I think I'm starting to come around the bend with using Technology! We were able to have a whole lesson with her over messenger. We are excited about Danielle! :)
We were tracting in an apartment complex and this women looks at Sister McCreath and says, "Are you a Latter Day Saint?" We said, "Yes!" and she yelled, "Get off my property! I am the Manager and if you don't leave in 5 minutes I'm going to call the police." She started walking away and I went up to her and said "I'm so sorry we will leave but we just want to fully understand why you want us to leave so badl." She wouldn't listen so we just left.
One thing we shared with one of our investigators, Tammy is found in
2 Nephi 2: 2 "Nevertheless, Jacob, my firstborn in the wilderness, thou
knowest the greatness of God; and he shall consecrate thine afflictions for thy gain."
The Lord puts us through difficult things for us to learn and grow. He knew life was going to be hard, and He knew that we were going to struggle and mess up and sin. But! He provided a Savior for us--To strengthen us, to lead and guide us.
Matthew 11: 28-30
28 ¶ Come unto me, all ye
that labour and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me; for I am meekand lowly in heart: and ye
shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and
my burden is light.
Christ invites us all to come unto Him and when we do.....
Ether 12: 27
27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their
weakness. I give unto men
weakness that they may be
humble; and my grace is
sufficient for all men that
humble themselves before
me; for if they humble
themselves before me, and
have faith in me, then will I
make weak things become
strong unto them.
Christ will strengthen us, and heal us, and help us in our journey back to Heavenly Father!
