I'm off to Kentucky at 4am Monday morning (3/18) so that's something cool! I’ve also been thinking about this scripture a lot:
"Strengthen your brethren in all your conversation, in all your prayers, in all your exhortations and in ALL your doings."
The people here in the MTC have strengthened me in so many ways. I am grateful. Elder Seth Van Katwyk was sent home on Wednesday and there were lots of tears. Our district has become a family and it was hard to say goodbye to him. I've made some amazing friendships here. I learned a little of the Tagalog language and I was able to talk to some sisters at the gym who came from the Philippines. I also spoke to a few sisters in Spanish (thanks Duolingo), and their stories are so inspiring. I love listening to people. I love learning who they are and how they became the person they are today. It makes me realize how blessed we all are and it makes me want to serve people even more.
There was also a piece of plastic in my salad this week so I'm gonna stick to the donuts from now on. Shout out to the Banks for providing my breakfast lunch and dinner for the next 8 days. 🍩 Shout out to my cousin Anna for drawing the best picture of me and Sister Gowans ever! She got our hair styles exactly right and she even remembered our missionary tags!
Here's something I thought during one of the harder days this week:
It's not the details and deep doctrine of the gospel that are carrying us through this, it's the simple and pure messages we learned in Primary. That God and Jesus love us and that we can be with our families forever. That's where my testimony started, that's all I knew when I was baptized. The details came later and for me, they came along with the happiest moments of my life.
