MARY ANN'S BAPTISM:
such a blessed Easter weekend. back story- when I was in Sikeston I prayed to have a baptism on 4/20 because it's a perfect date, so coming to this area Mary Ann was the only baptism for 4/20 and I felt ON TOP OF THE WORLD. We have had to work dang to get to this point- we've been through lots of breakups, but I LOVE that Heavenly Father made a small but earnest desire possible. Alicia, my girl in sikeston, also got baptized this weekend and I feel so blessed to be a missionary in the Lord's vineyard.
After our baptism we ran out to dinner and as we were sitting outside eating, this random man walks up and says, "are you the ones driving the car with the Light The World sticker on it?" He went off and told us about how he is from India and really wants to learn more and feels like we could convert all of India, so lol we're down.
MIRACLE HOUR- Sunday night we still hadn't found anyone to invite to be baptized, so we prayed and told Heavenly Father we would do whatever it would take to invite someone to be baptized on May 25. We were tracting this area full of really rude people- "don't you girls know it's Easter Sunday?" to which the Brynn Beal side of me said, "yeah, what better day to do missionary work" but the Sis B side of me just smiled and waved. We went to a different neighborhood and walked down a specific street we felt was right which lead us to a specific door we felt was right. After a 15 min conversation at 8:45 pm, we got the man ON DATE FOR MAY 25.
tune in all the way from ILy:
We had exchanges with our sisters in O'Fallon, IL who just white washed into a walking area. I spent the day with Sister Shaffer and we literally walked 8 miles in the POURING, FREEZING RAIN ALONG THE HIGHWAY. On the walk home from our appointment we decided to knock on some doors to invite people to our Sunday service. On one of the doors, this guy answers who busts out laughing and says "I saw you girls walking across the highway in the rain and thought, only the mormoms would do that, and now here you are."
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT- you know when you are just really overwhelmed and have a lot of things you're over-thinking so your faith + trust in Jesus Christ is just out the window? that's where I was for the first part of the week. I've been studying the 42 principles found in preach my gospel and the morning after a harder day, I woke up and the principle I had just left off on was Faith in Jesus Christ- mini miracle. During church on Sunday we were talking about the Atonement of Jesus Christ in Sunday School and one of the comments went along the lines of, "each of us is changing to become like Jesus Christ, but in order to change to become like Him, we first have to seek Him." This past week I started My Plan (a course they have missionaries do as a prep for returning home) and one of the videos showed this quote from President Eyring,
"I would ponder this question: “Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?” As I kept at it, something began to happen. As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, I realized that trying to remember had allowed God to show me what He had done. More than gratitude began to grow in my heart. Testimony grew. I became ever more certain that our Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers. I felt more gratitude for the softening and refining that come because of the Atonement of the Savior Jesus Christ. And I grew more confident that the Holy Ghost can bring all things to our remembrance—even things we did not notice or pay attention to when they happened."
I know that Heavenly Father is aware of us. I know that in times where we may feel alone, Christ has been through it all, He's already suffered all of it, for each of us. I'm grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ and I'm grateful to use His Atonement daily so that we can be in closer harmony with our Heavenly Father. I know that there is strength and power that come from Jesus Christ when we rely on Him and seek Him in our lives every single day.
make it a good day, sis b
