Sikeston, MO

Sister Dixon

Sikeston is popping!

Area update- we now have 8 people on date to be baptized so we are giving Heavenly Father a fat two thumbs up full of thanks. This place is all the sudden popping, it is SO cool to be a part of. I literally have so much love for all of the people we are teaching. It's the neatest experience to see someone change and repent to come closer to Christ. I have seen each of these individuals come closer to Heavenly Father as they work to build a relationship with Him. It's so neat to see their testimony and faith in Jesus Christ start to grow. We are teaching a couple that has been together for over 20 years (still not married and I say, literally why?) and all they do is fight lol. The other day we were over and Joseph said to us, "Whenever you girls come over here we are so happy and we don't argue the whole rest of the day but instead talk about you and what you taught us." So I say, that's the spirit, plz get baptized.

We had Stake Conference this week which was SO GOOD. We had Elder John N. Craig from the Quorum of the Seventy there. He talked a lot about member missionary work and said, "You succeed when you invite." It doesn't matter whether they say yes or no, Heavenly Father recognizes the invitation and blesses us based on that. Sister Dixon and I have been working hard to get into members homes every single night and teach them The Message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We talk about how Preach My Gospel is just as much for the missionaries as it is for the members of this church. We invite them to prayerfully ask Heavenly Father for a name to come to mind as they study Chapter 3, Lesson 1 in Preach My Gospel as a family. We have already had some success from this simple invitation. Honestly, I'd invite each of you to do the same and send some sweet referrals to your local missionaries. Sister Beal coming at ya live.

We locked ourselves out of our apartment (not my fault this time lolz) Literally the second I shut the door Sister Dixon said, "Wait, did you lock it?"  So we were stuck outside in the freezing cold waiting for a member to come save our butts. The number we had for our landlord was the wrong one so we had no luck there. Luckily we are dumb enough to keep our balcony doors unlocked. We tried climbing up our balcony to break in but don't have the arm muscles for that HAHAHA. We finally had a member bring a ladder so we could get up there and get back in, #blessings

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT- Last week, President Bateman talked about the word, "altar." An altar is where sacrifices to God are made. We sacrifice something and are promised something greater in return, only if we sacrifice our ALL, and all means everything, completely give. We make sacrifices so we can be better and turn ourselves closer to Christ. At the end, President Bateman said, "Isn't it interesting that we call it an 'al'tar, not a 'most'tar or a 'some'tar."

I love the talk, One More Day by Elder Taylor G. Godoy. He said, "We all have a 'today' to live, and the key to making our day successful is to be willing to sacrifice." I know the line in Praise to the Man to be true, "Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of Heaven."

all the love,
Sister Beal
