Sister Alder and I have been studying Jesus the Christ together and I'm pretty sure Heavenly Father called me to an English speaking mission because I can't even understand this book in my own language. It's been really good studying it together and it's cool to focus on the way that Christ taught. We have been reading the chapter that explains Christ's parables and it has been neat to apply the parables and learn from them. I think the thing that has stuck out the most to me is the fact that we really can't fully comprehend how much of an impact we have on others. And I think that also brings up why it's so important to recognize that we literally represent Jesus Christ and take His name upon us each week during the Sacrament.
On Thursday we were walking over for an appointment with Nancy and right as we got there she texted us and told us she would be 20 minutes late. We decided to go tracting and ended up like 5 streets away from Nancy's house haha. We saw this door and both felt the need to go knock it. This super old guy answered the door and we taught him the Restoration in a minute and gave him a Book of Mormon. He told us that he had taken a college course on Mormonism and had always wanted to learn more. He dropped out of college because he felt like taking care of his family and spending more time with them was more important. Now he is a widower and so ready to hear our message. We are so excited for our appointment with him tomorrow and super stoked to invite him to be baptized.
Friday night both of our appointments fell through so we had 3 hours to kill. We decided to go tracting and knock on as many doors as we could. I think we walked a total of at least 6 miles going everywhere and when we started we asked for the spirit to take us where we needed to go. We just started knocking and walking and by the end of the night we helped a lost dog find it's owner, had insanley sore feet, almost got straight up eaten by 5 different scary dogs, PICKED UP 3 NEW INVESTIGATORS, GOT 3 RETURN APPOINTMENTS, AND FOUND 2 SOLID POTENTIAL FAMILIES. This is literally like the biggest deal for Pittsfield. It was a miracle and a half, not even kidding.
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT- we had zone conference this week and one thought that President Bateman shared was how Missouri was mentioned twice in General Conference and how lucky we are to be here in the Missouri St. Louis Mission. Doctrine and Covenants 121:33 "How long can rolling waters remain impure? What power shall stay the heavens? As well might man stretch forth his puny arm to stop the Missouri river in its decreed course, or to turn it up stream, as to hinder the Almighty from pouring down knowledge from heaven upon the heads of the Latter-day Saints."Heavenly Father promises to pour down his blessings and knowledge to us. The Missouri River is huge and trying to turn the course of the river with your arm is absolutely impossible. That water is going to continue to flow right past your arm, just like how God's knowledge is continually flowing to us.
LOVE YOU LOTS
