Abe is my babe
First off, don't think I'm being apostate part 2- our Mission President makes super sporadic decisions and decided that every first and sixth week of the transfer, p-days are going to be on Tuesdays. I have absolutely no idea why, it's kind of weird and super confusing but it is what it is.
This week I got to go to Springfield on p-day and go see the Abraham Lincoln museum, which by the way Abraham Lincoln is my new favorite person of all time. Also here's a random legit fact about him- more books have been written about Abraham Lincoln than any other figure with the exception of Jesus Christ. THAT'S SO LEGIT. I aspire to be as cool as Abe.
So, God is not dead part 2. We received a referral from a member and she is SO good. She was talking to us about what she believes in and wants in a church and literally everything she was saying was what our church is. She told us that she has suffered with severe depression her whole life and wanted to know where our church stood with it. Sister Morgan and I just looked at each other and knew exactly what we were both thinking. We pulled out our phone and showed her the Mormon Message of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's video, Like A Broken Vessel. She loved it and we are so excited to meet with her again this week. She is so prepared to meet with us it's unreal. SHE IS SO WHITE (Doctrine and Covenants 4:4 reference, I'm not saying she's actually white even though she is white. (lol wow okay I'm done))
I HIT MY 100 DAY MARK ON MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU AND THAT'S PROBABLY THE BEST DAY IT COULD HAVE LANDED ON.
Side note- Sister Morgan is getting transferred which means I'm losing my mom which is the most depressing thing ever. But it'll be fine lol, I'm actually really excited to switch it up. I'm doing really, really good and being a missionary is my favorite thing of all time.
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT- "What does it mean to wait upon the Lord? In the scriptures, the word wait means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust. To hope and trust in the Lord requires faith, patience, humility, meekness, long-suffering, keeping the commandments, and enduring to the end." Patience is the capacity to endure. I absolutely love this scripture;Luke 21:19 "In your patience possess ye your souls."The footnote for possess says, win mastery over. I LOVE THAT. Patience is literally how you win your soul. Patience is what helps you become more like Christ and binds your will with His. "May we wait upon Him by pressing forward in faith, that we may say, “Thy will be done” (Matthew 26:42), and return to Him with honor."-Elder Robert D. Hales
I guess a lot of really cool stuff happened this week so here's a ridiculous amount of pictures for you to look at.
Pic 1: abe 😍
Pic 2: casual fam pic outside of the white house
Pic 3: worst volleyball players OF ALL TIME.
Pic 4: fav district (normally districts change up a little each transfer, but we have all stayed the same for the past 2 transfers in a row which is super abnormal. So we all love each other A LOT and have a good time together) - we match - district unity!
Pic 6: the trees here are SO green and look dang good
Pic 7: I made the impulsive decision to highlight my hair and it's SO blonde and so weird and this is what I get for only spending $5 on a do-it-yourself Wal-Mart kit lol
Also, random fact about Illinois & Missouri- they don't have sprinklers here for their grass or plants! The humidity is just absolutely ridiculous and so they don't even need it. Also I'm about to die here in the summer just to let you all know, it's so hot and it's starting to get humid and I'm crying and it's only May.
Apparently last summer it got up to 120° and the humidity made it feel like 150° and no one was allowed to be outside so SOS
I'm so sorry this email is so scattered but I guess that's how I always am so what's new ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Okay bye for real
