Dear Seeester Brighton, How are yew? We have loved reading all of the crazy things that are happening in Peru. We are all so glad that you are fully enjoying the experience and keeping a smile on your face, a spring in your step, and a roll of toilet paper in your purse! hahaha! Always be prepared! So this week there is a lot of news coming out of the Marina ward. Big changes. Bishop Campbell was released......mainly because he and his family are kind of maxed out with challenges and so much going on that being bishop was just too much for their family right now. Jill is still recovering from her hip surgery and bishop just had some kind of procedure (he's keeping it on the down low) and was in the hospital for a few days. Plus he is a full time student learning Chinese and they have 4 little kids. I think his calling right now is to focus on all of his personal responsibilities and leave the ward to another awesome priesthood leader. And that leader is.........President Locke from the Salinas 1 ward!! I know, I've never heard of someone from another ward taking a calling as bishop of a different ward. But he is a High Councilman and this is just a temporary assignment until they renegotiate the ward boundaries in about 6 months. So, at that point, everything will change again, so they didn't want to disrupt the auxiliaries since it is only temporary, so he is stepping in to serve. I think it is pretty awesome. I'll have to learn to call him Bishop Locke. Bro. Long is the 1st counselor, and another High Councilman from Monterey, Kenley Butler, is the 2nd counselor. See I told you lots of news! Also, Chad's mom, Sister Kopelowitz is my new 2nd counselor, Charlie Orsburn is the new Laurel adviser, and Julie Campbell is shifting positions to serve as the YW secretary. So YW has GREAT leaders and everyone is really happy.
As far as the family, everyone is doing great. Lauren loved her art class on Saturday. She has the 2nd session this coming Saturday. I attached a couple of photos so you can see her artwork so far. She finds out tomorrow which part she gets in Peter Pan. Cross your fingers for TinkerBell! Dad is doing fine and dandy. He is working hard as usual and is getting ready to do a big bike ride with Blair in Morro Bay this Saturday. Boys and their bikes!! I am busy as usual and multi-tasking all the time. I feel so happy for you and am so grateful that you are in Peru and get to have this once in a lifetime experience. So cool!! Mayra, Danessa, Anthony, and Christine all say hi. I saw them yesterday at GO. Everyone always asks about you when I go in. I'll show them pics next time I go in. Keep sending them, I love them!!! Oh, everyone also LOVES your missionary website that I set up. It's pretty cool. I'm sending a few pics so you can see what it looks like. I'm posting all of your pics and letters and it is great to have them all organized in one place. It's kind of like keeping a journal for you. You're welcome. :) hahaha!
So Dad says hi and he loves you and is so happy for you too. He is letting me write for both of us since I am taking up all the space. I don't want to be too long winded, but just keep rockin' in Peru and working hard and being good. That's pretty much it.....if you do those things everything will fall into place. When do you leave the MTC and how do you travel to your first area (plane, train, automobile)? And as soon as you know where you are going let us know. We love you so much and feel the blessings of having you serve! The spirit is very strong in our home, that's for sure. Thank you for representing our family and the Lord in such an admirable way. You are awesome and you are right where you are supposed to be! Take care of yourself and keep us posted on everything! Love you lots, Mom and DAAAAD
