WE ALMOST DIED THIS WEEK! It was pouring rain, obviously, and we were driving down the road jamming to music and complaining about Jenny Philips and the music she produces when we approached a blind bend in the road. All the sudden, this car came flying by HALF WAY IN OUR LANE! Sister Nelson just slightly turned the wheel to swerve out of the way so we made it out just fine. I turned around to see the other car in a ditch. We got out to check on them and it was a teenage girl, barefoot and all. Probably texting, lets be real. Lesson learned: DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE FRIENDS. No one was injured so all is well. Were full of so much adrenaline afterwards. I think we were going through different stages of shock. At one point we were just laughing uncontrollably and just HAD to tell someone what happened. We called our District Leader and filled him in. :)
Anyway, hi. Just had to get that out of the way.
This week wasn't too exciting. Lets see...I went on exchange to Alderwood on Tuesday. First time serving in a city! There were SO MANY PEOPLE it was ridiculous. It's good to be back in boonie-ville. We went to Mod Pizza for lunch. Gold. Then we had interviews with our President the next day. Oh, Sunday night was fun. We have these Come See for Yourself firesides once a month where people who recently joined the church share their conversion story and we do a church tour after. I hadn't been to one yet but we finally had an investigator to go with us, Miranda! It was really good and packed FULL of people! It was also fun too see a bunch of missionaries there!
A funny little thing: Miranda came to church on Sunday and her friends little brother came up to her and said "Hey, I hear you are joining the church!" She was like "Yeah, I am!" Haha, I don't know, it was funny.
A member of the Bishopric spoke about peace for a few minutes in church yesterday so I wanted to share some of my thoughts, starting with the hymn, Where Can I Turn for Peace? I couldn't pick a favorite verse so I used them all :)
Where can I turn for peace?
Where is my solace
When other sources cease to make me whole?
When with a wounded heart, anger, or malice,
I draw myself apart,
Searching my soul?
Where, when my aching grows,
Where, when I languish,
Where, in my need to know, where can I run?
Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish
Who, who can understand?
He, only One.
He answers privately,
Reaches my reaching
In my Gethsemane, Savior and Friend.
Gentle the peace he finds for my beseeching.
Constant he is and kind,
Love without end.
Peace is available to each one of us if we but reach out to Him. The member yesterday proposed these questions, "What are you willing to do for peace?" "What are you willing to give up?" I know that as we humble ourselves and turn to Him, we will find lasting, fulfilling peace.
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." -John 14:27
I love you all, have a great week! 💛
