I SAW THE SUN THIS WEEK! THE ACTUAL SUN! I didn't realize the insane lack of sun we have been having until it actually came out. I'm talking blue skies and everything. Washington went from a grey, stormy apocalypse to an awakening! People came out of hiding and were out planting flowers, washing cars, walking their dog, and playing at the park! It was amazing!
Even more grateful for it because the day prior it rained all day. Non-stop. We were out walking in it for a couple hours it was hilarious. We took lots of pictures because we looked like drown rats :)
WE GOT A NEW INVESTIGATOR THIS WEEK! Her name is Susan and guess what? She's not YSA, she doesn't live outside our mission, and she's not moving to California at the end of the month! She's totally solid! She doesn't have much religious background but believes in God and takes her family to church sometimes. We found her tracting and she is super nice. She finally let us in after a couple of tries. She was like "my daughter is sick so I don't know if you want to come in." We said it was fine so she agreed to just a few minutes. A couple minutes in, her husband came home unexpectedly and I thought she was going to have us leave but she didn't! He left for work and we continued teaching. She had so many questions! As we were teaching, there was this woman lingering in the kitchen, totally listening. Half way through she piped up and starting asking questions too. Turns out it was Susan's mom. She was baptized years ago but is less-active now! It was amazing to see their eyes light up as we taught about prayer and the Book of Mormon. God does answer prayer and the Book of Mormon truly is the word of God. It gives our life peace and purpose! Anyway, they kept wanting to know more so we were in there for almost an hour! We have another lesson with her tonight so hoping it goes well!
Also this week, Sister Perry and I instructed in District Meeting on virtue! We didn't have a lot of time to prepare but it went well!
Oh wait, how could I forget!! This week, I was praying during a lesson and a cat BIT ME! What the heck?! It was pretending to be all nice and cuddly then it attacked. I didn't like cats before and I especially don't now.
I wanted to share some words from a hymn I love!
"Who am I to judge another when I walk imperfectly?
In the quiet heart is hidden sorrow that the eye can't see
Who am I to judge another? Lord, I would follow Thee."
I was also reading a conference talk and I think this quote can go along with the words to that hymn.
"In your daily prayers, ask God to help you start seeing people as He sees them. Ask Him to help you be more patient and loving with those around you. It's a freeing feeling to take the focus off yourself and use God's perspective to just see others and their situation rather than how it affects you."
I know that as we look outside ourselves to serve and love those around us, we will find true happiness and have less worry in our life!
