Consider the Lillies

Hi Everyone,

Woke up to snow today. That's great news. I don't think Washington believes in warm weather.

In other news, I have exactly one year left to go on my mission! Wait, what?!

The other day I was on exchange with Sister Casebolt. We got a new investigator...kind of. Someone told us this guy, John, might need some service so we knocked on his door! He came right out and sat on his doorstep and started talking a whole lot about Jesus and the Seahawks. We taught him some principles but we aren't really sure if they got through to him. He said we could come back though so I'll keep ya posted.

So I've been thinking about something this week. Every time we ask someone a question like "What can you do to strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ?" The answer is almost always "Pray!" "Read the scriptures!" "Go to church!" In fact, these are the answers to a lot of questions we ask. The "primary" answers right? Why is that? Because it's simple? Easy? We grew up hearing that? We have been told time and time again that when we pray, we will receive comfort, when we read the scriptures, we will find peace, and when we go to church, our minds will be enlightened. Simple! So why aren't we doing these things? Or if we are, then why aren't we doing them with more diligence, more intent, more sincerity? Life gets busy, we get tired, lazy even. There are just not enough hours in the day! Consider Matthew 6:28-29, 31-33. "Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin; Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, even so will he clothe you, if ye are not of little faith. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For your Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." I know that Heavenly Father knows our needs and desires. I know that when we put Him first in all things, everything else will fall into place. Do the simple things He has asked us to do and we will be blessed beyond what we deserve! Don't worry, be happy!

I hope you all have a great week!

Apparently the only way I know how to pose for a picture is by sticking my arms out...
