I HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED. I REPEAT. I HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED.
So on our way to lunch with our ward mission leader, we get a call from the zone leaders. The conversation went as follows:
"Hey sisters, what are you doing you doing right now?"
"We are going to lunch"
"Ok, well Sister Hilton need to pack up your things and leave for the mission office as soon as possible because you are being transferred"
Keep in mind, this all happened 30 minutes before transfers, which are like 2 hours away. So I basically ran home, threw everything in a suitcase, and left.
My new area is Machias! The town of Machias has 2 gas stations and a bar. That should give you a good idea of the size of this place. My companion is Sister Perry! She is from Utah and has been out for 9 months! My new apartment is HUGE and a little more modern than the one in Ferndale.
This week has kind of been a blur if I'm being real. We did have a really awesome lesson the other day though. It was with this guy Dalton, who is like 23 so we will probably have to pass him off to the young single adult missionaries. :( Anyway, we had an appointment on Saturday and he "forgot" about it, but he let us come in anyway. We got to know him for a few minutes and he had so many good questions for us! Like, "What is the Book of Mormon? How are Mormons and Christians similar? How does God answer prayer?" Literally everything we had an answer to! Then he said he would definitely like us to come back and teach him. We offered to teach him right then and he got so excited, so we did! He was seriously SO eager to learn! At the end of the lesson, we asked him to pray to know if what we taught was true and he prayed right then, before we even asked. He said everything we taught made sense and he wants to meet again in a few days. During the lesson, I was trying not to smile too much to freak him out but I couldn't help it. Sister Perry and I left speechless!
After serving at the food bank on Thursday, we had a picnic lunch at the lake! It was so pretty! We are going to go back and take better pictures because I look like a boy in this one :)
I'm excited to serve here in Machias for the next few months! (hopefully not 6...) I feel a renewed enthusiasm and confidence going in to this area so I'm excited to see all the miracles! Make it a great week!
