Last week, we had a lesson with our investigator Cindy. We taught her the Restoration and it went pretty well but we didn't feel like she totally understood. She was also pretty unsure about some of it so this week, we decided to review it a bit when on exchanges. We brought an amazing fellowship to her lesson, Sister Shogren. She is a convert herself so they related quite a bit. It took us forever to even start our lesson because they clicked so well. Anyway, we watched the Restoration video with her and the spirit was thick. When it was over, all she said was "I get it. It makes sense to me and I relate so much to this." LIKE WUT. We asked her if she would pray to know if she should be baptized again but with someone who holds the priesthood authority and she said yes! BUT IT GETS BETTER. BRACE YOURSELF. She wanted to come to church on Sunday so we called her in the morning to remind her and she said that she fell the night before so she wouldn't be able to come. Sad. But she told us that she and Sister Shogren had talked a bit more and then she said, "I feel like this is what I have been searching for my whole life. It just hit me in my heart." DID YOU HEAR THAT PEOPLE?! Sister Knaphus and I could barely contain ourselves. Tears were forming and when we hung up the phone we ran all over the apartment, jumping with joy.
It's moments like those that makes this all worth it. All the rejection, the same routine day after day, seemingly little public success. When the spirit touches the heart of an investigator so deeply that they have a desire to change their life to draw closer to the Savior. That makes it all worth it. I don't know where Cindy will end up but I know where she is now and I know God has a plan for her.
On another note, I could just like to point out how consecrated our cell phone is. It literally auto-corrects to "saint" before "paint." Need I remind you "p" comes before "s" in the alphabet?
Also, Sister Knaphus and I have taken "teach with one voice" to a whole new level. We were sitting in the car texting a huge list of people when we said "anyone else" in COMPLETE unison. Same tone, same pace, same inflections. We didn't realize that we were both speaking until it was done. #mindblown
On Sunday, one of the young women had a fake baby for her child development class. We held it and it was quite fulfilling. And then Sister Cline (Lisa Brummett) showed us her baby and my dreams were shattered as we are not allowed to hold babies. Mission rules. Cutest baby though.
In honor of Thanksgiving, I have two scriptures for ya.
Psalms 107:1 "O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
D&C 78:19 "And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more."
HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND WEAR YOUR FAT PANTS. Love you all!
Pictures: Forgot my camera so pictures are in short supply today.
Pic #1 - The sticky note is a drawing of me. The other day I had a bandaid on my head to protect my scar and round glasses (therefore Harry Potter) braids in my hair (Katniss Everdeen), and I was wearing an AZ shirt (Bella Swan because I'm from AZ living in WA).
Pic #2 - Dinner with Sister Cline (Lisa Brummett) who I have known my entire life . We were in the same ward forever and now she is living here in Lynden. Small world!
