New People, New Places, LYNDEN

WHAT JUST HAPPENED I'M LOSING MY MIND.

I've been transferred to Lynden! Super cute town, way up north by the Canadian border! I feel like I'm in a twilight zone. I've been here a lot before because I used to serve in Ferndale which is the area right below it. I literally have so many connections to this place. Plus my new companion, Sister Knaphus (kid-nap-as), reminds me a whole bunch of a previous companion I had (Sister Brush). She is from Utah and has 9 siblings. She has been out for 5 months so she's still a newbie. She is super fun though and a great missionary so it's gonna be good.

Okay wow I don't have a lot of time left so this might not be the best email.

Lynden is a hard area from what i have been told. This town has a ton of churches, like a different one on every corner. Everyone is very strong in their faith or wants nothing to do with religion at all. It is a very anti Mormon town. I am actually excited to talk to these basher people. My favorite thing to say when they say that the Book of Mormon isn't true is "have you read it?" So big changes but it builds character am I right?

I miss Machias. Like, a whole bunch. I mean, I was there for 7 1/2 months. I didn't expect to miss it as much as I do. I knew the area like the back of my hand. The people, the places, everything! Then I got plopped somewhere new where I know basically nothing...it's a weird adjustment. You really don't know what you have until it's gone. I'm excited to get to know a new area though and meet new people. Change is good, right?!

Oh but guess what! I got to see my former investigator's daughter from Ferndale in church on Sunday! She goes with her grandma. Small world.

Oh my gosh, plus we have a flip phone. A literal flip phone. When you ruin the fancy sliding one, they give you a flip. It takes 5 minutes to text anything. I'm gonna be a killer t9 texter at the end of this.

Last random comment, it turned from summer to fall literally over night. I pulled out my rain boots and have already had like 3 cups of herbal tea and some hot chocolate. Tis the season.

I feel like I should leave you with a scripture so here ya go. 1 Corinthians 2:9 "...Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

Thanks for reading...until next week.
