Sorry I haven't updated in a while but I am now! (also, no you didn't miss a lot of weeks, I just skipped cause I gotta keep you on your toes right?)
I had my second surgery on Sep. 12th which went well! This surgery was
to biopsy different parts of my body in order to stage the cancer, while using the same incisions + one new one (because 3 wasn't enough...)
Apparently, one incision from last time wasn't healing properly and if my surgeon didn't fix it, I would have had a hernia - so I'm glad that is something that did not happen.
However, I was admitted to the hospital two days later because of a fever and I stayed there three days. It was a kidney infection because of a UTI but the antibiotics cleared it all up and I'm good now :) (just can't stay out
of the hospital can I?)
BUT THE GOOD NEWS: I have the EARLY stage of ovarian cancer (1C) which means that I only need THREE
rounds of chemotherapy (which are 3 weeks apart) AND according to my medical oncologist, are relatively mild treatments (aka not as dramatic as you see in the movies).
So, I'm doing well - my energy has gone up faster than after the last surgery and I"ve been watching some good HGTV and reading A LOT. I'm up to 12 books now :) AND I'll be shaving my head soon before the chemo starts (which should be within the next couple weeks) - so pics to come!
And I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me and my family, including all those who have given rides and meals and gifts or just kind words. It really means a lot :)
