Week 6: To Family

Watashi no kazoku,

I've gotten several emails from you all and I really appreciate them (especially stories, pictures and funny things that have happened).  This week has been really hard.

President Weaver often says that a mission isn't physically hard but emotionally - and I definitely know that now.  Erickson Shimai went home on Tuesday.  When she told me on Monday, we walked up to the temple and talked for a while.  It was really hard to hear because I love her and I'm going to miss her but I am so proud of her for making that decision.  I think I've known that she was going home for a while, at least the Spirit was telling me even if I was denying it.  But it was still a bit of a shock and there have been lots and lots of tears, of sadness, comfort and happiness.  She is/was my best friend at the MTC.  All the senpai shimaitachi got up at 2:00am to send her off.
Her companion, Pierre Shimai, is now companions with Barton Shimai and I, and the transition has been great.  I miss Erickson Shimai a lot but she's planning on coming back and meeting us in Japan.  I know that the Lord will take care of her <3

Thank you for your prayers!  I love you all so much and hope you have a great summer :)Remember that God loves you and will support you.  He has supported me and He will support you.

Sister Atkinson
