Sister Alyssa Stansfield

My parents are in Kauia!

Hello everyone!!

Alot of things have happened this past week and it was kind of a blur if I am being honest hah!

Sister Stansfield and I were able to visit a lot of less active members this week and get to know them more. We had a one really amazing visit with a lady named Charlyn who is from the Philipines and has been living in Norway for a few years now. We had an amazing visit with her and she was telling us how much she misses going to church and feeling of the spirit. She said that she still reads from the book of mormon and has a testimony, but it is just hard for her because her boyfriend is not a member and does not want to go to church. We were able to meet and chat with him also and he is a really sweet and nice guy but just has different beliefs, which is fine. We invited her to pray for an answer and to decide if this is really what she needs to be doing. She invited us to her house again this coming week for her daughters birthday party so that will be nice to meet her kids and family.

Their is a member named Judy, she got baptized almost 2 years ago and we are meeting her and helping her to be ready to go to the Temple. She has been struggling with drinking Coffee every morning and she always just tells us how she just needs that one cup for the rest of the day. But in our last meeting with her shared the scripture Ether 12:27 and talked about how Heavenly Father will help us with our weaknesses and will make us strong again. We then for some reason started talking about the word of wisdom and she opened up her thoughts to us and said how she really feels like she needs to stop and that she wants to so that she is ready for the Temple!! That made us really happy to hear that she is starting to have that true desire to quit and that she knows Heavenly Father will help her along the way!

Our Mission President, President and Sister Tew came and visited the branch here in Arendal and gave talks. It was soo much fun to be able to spend time with them while they were here. SIster Stansfield and I both did a musical number in church and sang the song "Gethsemane" Yeah thats right....I did a musical number and a solo haha! The song went really good and the spirit was soo strong when we were singing it and the members told us how amazing it was and that it really touched there hearts! That was really nice to hear! Anyway President and Sister Tew are amazing examples and have helped me soo much since being on my mission!

Funny Stories: Sister Stansfield sent a text to a member asking if we can borrow oranges from them for a lesson. She could not remember the Norwegian word for Oranges so she just went with what sounded right......what she chose was "Oranger" ahhaha we got a text back from them that said, "WHAT??" HAHAH they thought it was soooo funny and the actually word in norwegian is "Appelsiner" That just shows you that we are not perfect heheh!
Another funny thing that happened was when President and Sister Tew came and visited us president Tew called sister Stansfield, "Sister Mansfield" haha in front of everyone it was soo funny!!

I wanted to share a quote that my mom sent me (They are in Kauia right now soooo kinda jealous but thats okay lol....)

"The heavens will not be filled with those who never made mistakes but with those who recognized that they were off course and who corrected their ways to get back in the Light of the Gospel Truth" Dieter F Uchtdorf

We are not perfect. We make mistakes all the time. But that is why we have the Atonement and this Gospel to help us try to be better everyday. I am soo grateful for that Knowledge and that we dont have to be worried about our mistakes or flaws but that we can keep trying and press forward with a steadfastness in Christ!

I love you all and hope you remember who you are and have an amazing week!!!
