Hello all! Happy November!
This week has been full of ups and downs just like every other while you're out on a mission or not! Its the end of the month which means no money so we lived off of frozen burritos and ramen. oh the good life! As some of you know I have been making many changes in my diet and after reading and pondering and looking over the word of wisdom like a bunch of times and reading the scriptures to go along with it, I decided to not eat meat anymore. I know super crazy! but I feel like it is the best choice for me! so call me the crazy vegetarian!
I'm glad to hear that everyone had a good holiday and that they are excited for the upcoming holidays as well! We had a trunk or treat last Friday and a couple of our investigators came with their families and everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun despite the cold and the rain!
The weather is constantly changing and I think that is why I have been sick on and off. But I have been feeling better everyday so that is good!
We were challenged by our mission president to teach the restoration to EVERYONE we could. I thought it would be easy, but we have had more doors slammed in our face this week than any other. Sometimes I feel like we are not getting anywhere with the people here. so on fast Sunday I fasted to know what to do and how to become a better missionary.
In personal study I stumbled upon this verse in alma 26:36 it reads "Now if this is boasting, even so I will boast; for this is my life and my light, my joy and my salvation and my redemption for the everlasting wo. yea, blessed is the name of my God, who have been mindful of this people, who are a branch of the tree of Israel, and has been lost from it's body in a strange land; yea, I say, blessed be the name of my God. Who has been mindful of us, wanderers in a strange land."
I think for a lot of missionaries, you see how much the lord loves everyone so much and wants to bless them, and you yourself forget just how important you are to him. I think that is a great lesson to learn, that no matter what the Lord is mindful of you and will help you. After reading that and a couple of emails I received today, I know more than ever that the Lord knows each of us and loves us and wants to help us. I am so grateful for that.
We have been working with a bunch of the part member families and half of them want to be baptized. Now it is just a matter of when. We have set some for dates but don't have anyone getting in the water this weekend. But we are hopeful that we will getting a couple of people in the next couple of weeks which is super exciting!
Sister Petersen and I where asked to go to the leadership meeting that only happens like once a transfer and our sister training leaders think that Sister Petersen will be made a sister training leader and that I will be training a new missionary. Please PRAY that is does NOT happen. haha ! we haven't been getting very many full proselyting sisters because of the trail center. So this next transfer we have no idea what to expect and I am freaking out just a bit. I am not ready to leave this place just yet and I am not ready for Sister Petersen to leave me yet either! haha but anyway.
This week was great and I'm happy to be here! I love you all and I am thankful for all of your support!
It's a good day to be a missionary!
Sister Smith (:
