Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful week!
This past week has been super long and super hard! We have been having a hard time finding new people to teach and our investigators that we of have are not progressing, BUT no need to fear because we have been seeing so many tender mercies from the Lord and it helps me look to all the positive things that are happening and helping me continue to learn patience, trust, and humility.
But anyways. I just have to tell you... Shell's guest bathroom is probably one of the nicest bathrooms I have ever been in. MARBLE everywhere. on the floor, on the walls, on the ceiling, behind the door. everywhere. I don't know how much everything cost and I may or may not be over exaggerating, but the bathroom alone was probably like a million dollars. (Rich people be like.) I don't know, but it was so fancy. probably the highlight of the week. you walk towards the bathroom just seeing like an ordinary wooden door, but then you open it and like the heavens open. hahahaha but seriously It was so nice. THey have one of those electric toilets too and all of the controls were on the wall, the lid AND the toilet seat are automatic.make them both go up, or just one and both go down and when you approach it, it even has a sensor!! it was nice, I would have taken pictures but being an obedient missionary we cant take our ipads into the bathroom. lol she even had these nicely folded paper towels that probably costs like $5 each. :) ahaha love it. I cant even imagine what the master looks like...
enough with that,
So yeah, this past week was a struggle! But we met with Brother and Sister Williams and they BOTH came to church!!! its been like 12 years! yay it was so amazing to see them there! They are awesome, and its so fun teaching them because they are so funny and are just so willing to do what we invite them to do! and that's like the best when you are a missionary. We are meeting with them again this week and we are excited to help them work towards going back to the temple!
We also met with this lady who has been inactive for a long time and it was a very cool experience just getting to know her and feeling the Spirit as we shared the Prince of Peace video! That is such a good video, we are still sharing it with people :) haha We have been meeting with a lot of less actives and its been good just trying to help them feel the Spirit and hopefully helping them remember the good things about the gospel and what they used to experience.
Its been SUPER cold here!! the lowest it has been is like 55 but I have been freezing! I have officially acclimated to the San Diego Weather. Its been raining the past couple of days, and I have greater respect for those missionaries serving in places where it rains almost 95% of the year. woof.
But yesterday we officially ended the teaching drought and we were able to find someone!! :):) yay and he is super cool!! We were just walking around trying to stop by some people and we run into Ben while he was outside doing yardwork. We started talking to him and he was interested!! :) we started sharing a little bit about the restoration and set up a time on Thursday to go back! He has three kids too and so we are praying that things will all work out.
Don't know what we were thinking but Friday night during Cinco de Mayo, we ended up in Mission Beach which is not really the most effective place to go because everyone was drinking and celebrating.. haha all the beach bums.. we had some very interesting conversations. the best one though, we were walking down the street and this guy, muscle tank and all was coming towards us and we try to stop him in his paths and we start speaking and he says "absolutely not" with like this disgusted tone while he uses him hand to motion us like he was demeaning us or something if that was the right word. I couldn't hold in my laughter! haha it was so ridiculous and even the way he walked. woofums, he is a child of God and I hope one day he would be willing to listen. lol but it was great. gave us a good laugh despite all the rejections and funny looks we got.
Also, random cool thing, as we were coming out of an apartment complex we run into this lady from Istanbul! She was super sweet and we just try to start talking to her as much as we could because we don't know Turkish and she doesn't know very much English. But it was so much fun, we started to show her the Gospel Library app after we changed the Language to Turkish of as much as could show and we invited her to check out the website, and the crazy thing was, is that when we got back to our car, we had a Turkish Book of Mormon in our trunk!!! we drove around the block a couple of times to see if we could find her but no luck. But it was so crazy what are the odds.
But yes, It was an interesting week! Highs and lows and everything in between make it a great and growing experience! :) I love the mission so much! Can't believe that it is already May!! and Mothers day on Sunday! SO exciting! Happy Mothers day to all you mothers and future mothers! :)
We had a zone conference this past week and received training about the Book of Mormon and It was awesome. It strengthened my testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I know that it is true and that it is the word of God.
I know that this work we are doing is the most important thing we could ever do and through service is where we find the greatest fulfillment to our souls :) I am grateful to be serving in this amazing area! And I am forever grateful for a merciful Father in Heaven who allows us to experience miracles :) I know that you all can have miracles in your lives everyday when you focus and have the faith to see them. :) I love you all and I hope that you have a happy week! :)
much love,
Sister Vernier
1 Nephi 13:40
"And the angel spake unto me, saying: These last records, which thou hast seen among the Gentiles, shall establish the truth of the first, which rare of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, and shall make known the plain and precious things which have been taken away from them; and shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved."
Helaman 3:29
"Yea, we see that whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked-"
