Well I got a call from our Mission President yesterday who informed me
that I will be training a brand new missionary!!! I am so excited.
Around this time last year I had just gotten on my mission and now I
am training someone how to be a missionary. I just hope that I am as
good as a trainer as my beloved trainer, Sister Moss, was to me.
An incredible miracle happened this week and an apostle of Jesus
Christ, Elder Neil L. Andersen came and spoke to the whole mission.
The Spirit that man carries with him is indescribable. He talked a lot
about how to keep your testimony strong in Jesus Christ, especially
after the mission when you are thrown back into the real world. He
gave us the challenge to memorize 10 verses in the New Testament about
Christ that we truly believe. And to memorize 10 verses in the Book of
Mormon about Christ's Atonement (His suffering in the garden of
gethsemane and cruxifixction on the cross) that we truly believe.
Along with him he brought Elder Tillman of the quorum of the 70. It
was an incredible experience, you can just feel that they know Jesus
Christ so well and want everyone to find out who Christ is on their
own so they can feel the peace that comes from it. It's incredible how
they travel all around the world, the church is everywhere,
missionaries working hard everywhere, to help everyone find Christ and
true happiness. It's for everyone.
Last week I mentioned how God blesses our efforts, well he did it
again. We took time to find on our own, and although we had no
success, we got two referrals from members and two new investigators
from members as well!! This area has never seen this much work, what a
blessing it is to be apart of it.
Here's the first thing I'm trying to memorize in the New Testament.
It's Christ's sermon on the Mount.
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for
they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and
shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:
So far I'm about half way through, I just love it because how often do
we feel so poor in Spirit, like we aren't good enough, and can't
measure up and Christ is saying it's okay, you try, the kingdom of
heaven is yours. That's the character of Christ. He understands. He
loves us. He will lift us up when we can't on our own.
