Week 43: monsoon season has arrived!! (10 months)
Good morning my beautiful friends and family!

Lots of rain. Lots of thunder. Lots of lightning. It makes for
absolutely gorgeous sunsets. Monsoon season is my favorite and I'm so
glad it's finally here!

Things have been crazy here in Prescott. There was a rodeo going on
for 2 weeks and the whole town goes. It's a huge event. While that was
going on a wildfire spread near Mayer which is not far at all. It is
part of our zone and missionaries had to be evacuated out. The fire
got worse before it got better but it's finally out. We prayed for
those firefighters all day long. Due to the fire there were no
fireworks here for the 4th of July :( but that's okay. We spent the
4th with some of our favorite members, the Pucci's!!! They took us out
to Crackel Barrel and Linx Lake, it was a beautiful evening. Oh we
also played lots of Sorry.

We started reading the Book of Mormon with Barbara every night and we
are all learning so much from it. It's been beautiful. She has also
been teaching us how to cook. I'm super excited to make my family the
new recipes I've been learning when I get home because Barbara has
some mad cooking skills.

So the reason I didn't email last week was due to the fact we went to
Flagstaff to hike Humphrey's for P-day. It was an 8 hour hike from
7,000ft to 12,633ft. The hardest hike I've ever done but the most
breathtaking as well. It is the highest elevation in all of Arizona.
You feel on top of the world and can just see forever. I can't
describe how amazing it really was.

We met our new Mission President and his gorgeous wife this week at
Zone Conference! And guess what?? They know the Pennock's!!! They
asked me where I was from so I said San Diego and they asked what part
specifically so I told them San Marcos and they asked if I knew the
Pennock's and when I told them that he was my bishop and Val is one of
my closest friends they couldn't believe it. It was an awesome
experience. President and Sister Collins are absolutely wonderful.
They gave us a journal embroidered with two scriptures on it "Charity,
a pure love excels and exceeds almost all else" (1 Corinthians 13) and
one of my favorite scriptures "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). They told
us to write down all the miracles we see on our missions so that after
we go home we can read it and remember the feelings we felt. It was
awesome getting to know them and I'm excited to get to know them more
in the future!

was stressful because it was the same time as Zone Conference so we
were running around back and forth between it all. The Spirit was so
strong at her baptism. I could feel so deeply how much God loves her
and is aware of her. There's nothing more precious than watching
someone be completely forgiven of all their sins and get a brand new
fresh start to be better than before. I feel so incredibly blessed
that I got to be apart of it. My heart was filled with so much joy
that you can't get from anything else.

Okay so I want to talk a little bit about faith in Jesus Christ. We
had a great discussion on it in district meeting. Faith in Jesus
Christ opens the key to everything. If you believe in Christ then you
know God exists, and that He sent His son to die for us because He
loves us. That's one thing I've really come to know on my mission. I
testify that God loves each and every one of us more than we can even
comprehend. He knows the way for us. He knows what will bring us the
most happiness. When things don't go our way it's always for the best.
I testify Christ died for us so that we don't have to be alone. We can
chose to turn to Him and not be defeated in our hard times. I love the
gospel. I love being a missionary. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
It's been 10 months now. It needs to slow down. I'm just learning to
really love and appreciate every day because it won't last forever.

I love you all,
