Hey Obama, want a Book of Mormon?

Aloha friends and family! I just want to say thank you to everyone who has either emailed me or contacted my family in regards to my safety. Yes, I am safe! The volcanic eruptions are on the Big Island of Hawai'i. I am on the main island of Oahu. All the missionaries on Big Island are safe too. Some of them were evacuated to another part of the island. Mahalo a nui for all of your thoughts and prayers. If only we could get the members of our church to be as active as that volcano....
As always, this week flew by. And yes, as always, this week was GREAT! We were busy. Most of our time was spent trying to find new people to teach. I think the highlight of the week was when we started talking to this old Hawaiin Japanese man. He told us he doesn't like "da Mormons" because BYU always beats University of Hawaii. He also gave us a really solid referall: he suggested we go teach Obama himself. Lol, not a day goes by that we don't meet a funny old uncle.
This week we had Mission Leadership Counsel. I really learned a lot this time, and also recognized many areas where I have room to improve. One of my favorite quotes from that day was,
"We don't have to be perfect. But we do have to be good at getting better."
Hawaiian people are stubborn by nature. They don't like being told what to do and they ESPECIALLY don't like being told to change. One thing I have really learned lately is that if I expect these people to be changing, I need to be changing too. It's not always easy, but I truly know that as we rid ourselves of bad habits and try to be more like the Savior, we are happier and holier people.
Mother's Day is soon and I am so grateful and excited to talk to my family! I love my mom with my whole heart. She truly is a super mom and I hope I'll be at least 10% as awesome as she is.
There are also many of you who are mothers who are reading this email. It truly does take a village to raise a child and all of you have made a difference in my life. Everyone give their moms hugs this week, and if you see my mom, give her a hug from me too.
Have a great week! Sorry there's not many pictures!
