Beach Bums Minus The Beach

Aloha friends and family! This week was total chaos, but it was so much fun. I have no idea where to start!
On Thursday I was able to go on our first set of exchanges with the sisters here in Kaneohe zone. Hermana Cardenas came here to Waimanalo with me and we had a fantastic day. She was baptized with her family a few years ago. She is very tiny, but don't let that fool you. Her testimony has POWER. She was born in Venezuela, but then moved to Miami. All day she was trying to teach me Spanish, but it wasn't really my forte to say the least..
Thursday-Friday we had a bit of a "situation" I wold call it. We thought that our shower was clogged and we ended up with a tub full of water that wouldn't drain. (don't ask.) Anyways, we ended up getting a few bottles of drano to try and fix it, but nothing was working. We called some members in a panic because it had been a while now. The other sister missionaries' investigator Kui ended up coming over with her boyfriend who is a member and also a plumber. Coincidentally, this was the night before Kui's baptism. As she stood in the tub full of water, Kui said, "well, this is good practice for tomorrow at least!" Hahaha! So funny! By now its near 10pm and nothing is working. We were getting ready to call our Zone Leaders to get permission to go to the church and use the shower there because by now it had been a VERY extended period of time that any of us had showered (at least 2 days.. sorry mom.) Suddenly, Kui's boyfriend found the source of the problem: the switch was flipped to shut the drain so one could take a bath. We all said "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! We've been washing our hair in the kitchen sink for nothing?!" It was so embarrassing, yet also super funny. Kui and her boyfriend saved the day. So moral of the story, this week we bummed it and didn't shower. :)
Kui's baptism was a great turn-out. It was so well-attended that we had to hold it in the chapel. My companion and I sang a song for everyone, which I'm sure you all know is VERY out of my comfort zone. The words to the song are below:
1. I have a fam’ly here on earth.
They are so good to me.
I want to share my life with them through all eternity.
Fam’lies can be together forever
Through Heav’nly Father’s plan.
I always want to be with my own family,
And the Lord has shown me how I can.
The Lord has shown me how I can.
2. While I am in my early years,
I’ll prepare most carefully,
So I can marry in God’s temple for eternity.
Fam’lies can be together forever
Through Heav’nly Father’s plan.
I always want to be with my own family,
And the Lord has shown me how I can.
The Lord has shown me how I can.

I am so grateful that this Gospel makes our families eternal. I love my family and I am happy to say we are stuck together for eternity :) One thing I learned this week is that Jesus Christ is our Savior, but He also is our Friend. We can turn to Him in times of need just as we would any other friend. I hope you all have a great week!
