I hope you all ate plenty of turkey and gravy this Thanksgiving and enjoyed the family that surrounds you! We were lucky to get permission this week to have our own Turkey Bowl before weekly planning!! We Hermanas made Oreo pie to celebrate and we all played some American football :) Two touch hermanas vs hermanas and elders vs elders! It was a blast!
The rest of the week was great! Lots of picking up hermanas from the terminal and lots of sleepovers at our house! It's always great to see the other hermanas and learn from them.
We had a cool experience with one of the people we are teaching this week, his name is Eloy. We met him a few weeks ago and he has been receiving the gospel message with lots of enthusiasm. Last charla we had given him the Book of Mormon and gave him some parts to read. When we went to visit him again, He hadn't read the parts we left but... he had read the whole testimony of Joseph Smith! He told us that he didn't know why there were so many churches, especially ones that just want to take the people's money. We were able to explain to him about Joseph Smith and Prophets, how God loves us so much that he sent us Prophets to lead and guide! He told us after us asking, that he already knows that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, he said, " If God has talked to Prophets in the Bible why can't he have another book, or talk to a Prophet right now?" I know that the Spirit really does testify of truth! That is how Eloy has received his testimony of the Book of Mormon... BEFORE even reading it. He simply felt the Spirit and trusted that God does NOT change and never will. Not only has he realized it for himself but he wants everyone to know about it too!! He has been sharing the knowledge and testimony he has received with his two youngest sons and neighbors! He is amazing!! :) Just like it says in the introduction of the Book of Mormon, "Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World, that Joseph Smith is his Revelator and Prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah." A testimony of the Book of Mormon brings a testimony of the rest of these things, Jospeh Smith, Christ, His church, Etc!
This past Sunday as we listened to the testimonies of those in our ward, the Spirit was able to whisper truth. I know that when we share our testimony the Spirit can have the door opened to give us more knowledge. So during this special Christmas time, what better gift can we give to Jesus Christ, our Savior than to share our testimonies with those who surround us? It is simple and benefits all who listen or give it! We can share our testimony in so many ways, it can be through words but also through our actions. Every time we serve others we are showing God that we want to put his will above our own and we show others that we truly are representatives of Jesus Christ. We do what he does. During this amazing Christmas season as a missionary I am going to take the Saviors invitation found in 3 Nephi 27:27, "And know ye that ye shall be judges of this people, according to the judgment which I shall give unto you, which shall be just. Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am." I know that my Savior LIVES and LOVES each of us. He died to bring us unto him and invites us to become more like him, so that one day we will see him face to face and BE like him. This is his invitation, begin a relationship with Him and share His Love through our testimonies this Christmas season!
