Hermana Taufatofua

Dink it and Sink it?

Hola Familia y amigos!! Como estan?

I hope you all had a great week and were able to feel the spirit :)
This week was a good one! We have a goal to have at least 3 charlas with members every week because it not only helps the members be strengthened but it gives the people we are teaching another perspective and testimony. The members here are so amazingly willing to help us and we were trying to think of one to come with us to our charla with a young woman named Nadia, one of the people we are teaching who is progressing a ton! This week started off with what I like to call, an "opening area miracle" because we are 4 weeks in and still trying to meet all the members and get to know the area, it is a great adventure! So this week we were walking down the street and brainstorming what we should do because ALL of our plans had fallen through, A-Z. We were still trying to figure out who could come with us to the charla with Nadia and we had only 2 hours until the charla. We turned down one road to go start contacting and as we started walking someone yelled "Hola Hermanas!", we turned around and saw a man with his wife in front of his house. We turned around to go talk to him and to our surprise he was a member! He welcomed us in and his whole family was there! Turned out that he served his mission in Mexico a few years ago and now is back home and got married a year ago. We felt prompted to tell him about Nadia and how we were looking for a member to come with us and he told us that his wife actually is good friends with Nadias family! She agreed to come! :) We were able to teach about how Christ's invitation to come unto Him is individual and unique for each of us, the member shared a personal experience that really brought the spirit. And it was amazing because she already knew the family because Nadias aunt and her had been visiting teachers (before the changes). It was so amazing.
This week was a little test of our patience because we felt like we were starting conversations with every Uruguayo that wanted to bible bash us.... It honestly taught me a lot about how important it is to simply testify of the Book of Mormon and the power of prayer. Hermana Taufatofua was an amazing example of that this week. We were in a charla with an older man who pulled out his bible and started bashing us. She followed the spirit and decided to ask him to read the promise found in the Book of Mormon. It was so powerful because we could testify about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon which quieted all the bible bashes that he had against us. We were able to help him understand that if he believes in the prophets in the bible he should be able to have faith in the modern day prophets too. I feel so lucky to be defending the Savior and his prophets. I know that the Book of Mormon is TRUE!!

This week I also found out that Hermana Taufatofua had never had Oreos dunked in milk!! So we went and bought some super quick and did the old fashioned Dink it and Sink it with our oreos. She was amazed!! :) That is some real patience to go your whole life without dunking oreos in milk!

I love this work so much. I know that its true! :)

I love you all :)

This sweet lady Berta that is 80 years old walked 20 blocks to come check out the family history center.
It was fun to show her around but sadly she couldn't do anything because her birthday is wrong on the church records. 😢
