I hope you all are having a great Monday!! And that all the Mothers had a wonderful Mother´s Day!! Thank you too allllllllll the Madres that have blessed my life, I love each one of you! :) The Mothers Day here was a good one! The branch made cute little towel flowers with a nail file stem for all the moms and were kind enough to give us Future moms one too! I don't have a picture but they were cute!
THIS WEEK was a great one!! We had a lot of stuff going on! First we had a Capella Abierta with our mission president on Tuesday where everyone in my zone invited people they were teaching, recent converts and members, but we were focusing on bringing poeple we are teaching. It was a great night. We had little devotionals about Faith, Joseph Smith, Baptism and The Spirit, each one just simply explaining the importance and signifigance. We were privilaged to have a baptism the same night!! Some elders in our zone coordinated it with President Olsen and we were able to watch a baptism and a confirmation! It was amazing for all the people who came and who are not members!! It was a night full of the Spirit. One of the recent converts from our branch named Marcia turned to me after and said "This night made me remember Why I got baptized and I'm just so Happy!!"
It made me reflect on my baptism and my membership in the church too! I know that this is the restored Church of Jesus Christ! I know that by living his teachings and following Him we not only find Happiness but we can have LASTING peace in our lives! :) Im grateful for a loving father in heaven who has given us every step necesary to have joy now and to live with Him someday! It's something that the world can't offer, only Christ! :)
We also had Interviews with President, an activity with the branch and did divisions with Santa Helena, the other ward in Quarai. My companion and another sister in the zone are Sister Training Leaders and were doing divisions with other sisters in the zone so I got to do divisions with Sister Nacimento again! Shes amazing because she only has 2 months in the mission but is already teaching, testifying and talking to everyone like a missionary that has had 15 months! It was incredible to spend the day with her and teach with her. We visited one of the people that she and her companion are teaching right now who is preparing for baptism, named Carlos. He has struggled for along time with smoking, drinking and gambling. He has such a sincere desire to change and is so eager to learn! We set up a plan to leave all his adictions behind and taught about being born again through Baptism. I love Alma 7:11-14 because it gives us a detailed description of what Christ suffered for us and then invites us to then trust in Him and Repent!! I love it! Look at what your Savior has done for you and the opportunity you have now to be born again, to be pure! I Know the cleansing power of the Atonement is Real and I know that we can be born again. We just have to be like Carlos and have the desire to follow our Savior.
Fun culture/ Portuguese fact:
In Brazil, well in Quarai, when you walk by someone in the street you say ¨todo ben?¨ and they always respond ¨todo Bom¨.
Also Faigao is my favorite food now!! Its basicaly black beans with rice but they cook it with meat and its soooo good! :)
