Como anda? I hope you all are doing well!! I feel so blessed to be serving here in Colonia. This week we had a lot of experiences with families. And it really strengthened my testimony that the gospel really does not only bless our families but it strengthens them and helps us have more love and peace in our homes.
We found a super amazing girl a few weeks ago named Maria, she is actually not from Uruguay but is from Dominican Republic. Her two sisters and her mom all moved to Uruguay about a year ago and all have amazing faith in God and an excitement for religion that is seriously so amazing! When we first met Maria she told us all about her experiences in the Catholic church, how she was baptized and how her family has a firm faith in God. We shared about the Book of Mormon and how it's another testimony of Jesus Christ and through it we can come to know our Savior more and she said "Well, I'm not a mormon but if it talks about Jesus, Im interested..." We had a really great charla with her this week and even got to meet the rest of her family, her mom and two sisters. She has a sister named Karen who is 12 years old and before we even opened our mouths she was already asking where the Church is here in Colonia! She told us that she has been trying out different churches and would love to come and experience the "Mormons", (We are working on them...The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, HAHA) It's really incredible to see how families centered in Jesus Christ are so much more united and there is a visible difference in the amount of love and joy in the home! These girls love Jesus and you can tell in how to treat one another! :)
Another amazing experience from this week was with a family that we had contacted weeks ago but they were never able to set aside a time to talk but finally we were able to have a charla! Maurisio and Maria. They have a set of twins, 8 years old and have lived in Uruguay for 9 years, they were living in Brazil before but now are in Uruguay! Maurisio told us about when he was a little kid this his super catholic mom let the missionaries come over and give service on the condition that they don't talk about religion, and so they did! Maurisio remembered this service all his life and said that to this day he always lets the missionaries in to talk. As we got talking to them we began to talk about families and how the gospel really does help us have families full of love and peace and joy! He expressed to us that he could use more peace in his home, the spirit was strong as we testified that the gospel is the way to bring that peace into his home. I know that this gospel changes lives! I have a firm faith that the teachings of Jesus christ will make homes a place of joy, peace, shelter and love! I know that this gospel is the gospel of our savior Jesus Christ! :)
I love you all so much!! I'm so grateful for your support and love! I couldn't do this without you all!
