Another week flew by in Uruguay. It was HOT HOT HOT but then today we got rained on.... Uruguay is sort of like Utah. I love it!
This week we had a family home evening with a family named Cecilia and Jordie. Jordie is a member but less active and Cecilia is an investigator, they have 3 little kids who are seriously ANGELS! They reminded me of Bailee, Grace, Hattie and William because they were anxious to be involved and even more excited to eat the dessert we brought!! We talked about Luke 4, when Satan is tempting Jesus. Cecila and Jordie are super awesome and have super strong desire to get married but they seem to let thier temptations get in the way, (smoking, waiting to get married, etc). It was a really sweet experience to be able to share with them that because we are children of God, we can always conquer our temptaions. Remembering our identity is KEY :)!! We played a game of pictionary and ate brownies! It was a great night. I love that we have the knowlege that families are forever, and that we can find joy in our families through Jesus Christ's gospel. I know that through the Gospel of Jesus Christ our families can be succesful and full of peace!
Another highlight from the week was we did some service for a member in the branch. She asked for a priesthood blessing on her house because she felt like she was lacking the spirit in her home, and because of that, experiencing bad spirits. Our presidient of the branch went over and decided that he wanted to do what Joseph Smith had done when he felt the same way in one of his houses, he requested we paint her walls white and then he can bless the house. So we did just that on saturday morning! It was super great to give service. I feel so grateful for the blessing of the preisthood. We not only can recieve our patriarchal blessings and ordananinces through the priesthood but we also recieve protection. I know that I have felt this power in my own home and when I'm in the church or the temple, there is a real sense of peace and safety. Our homes can be a place just as sacred as the temple and I'm so grateful for this promise.
This week we faced the usual struggle of missionary work, REJECTION. One night I was thinking to myself, why don't the people we contact accept our AWESOME message! Like its amazing and will improve their life and bring them soo much happiness. Then I found something great in Preach my gospel that helped me have more perspective. As disciples of Christ we feel sad when people don't accept His gospel, but we need to maintain the vision that God is preparing people always. I don't know what part of the process these people are on, the beginging, middle or end. All I can do is help where I can! It just so happens that this week we found a lot of people in the beginning of their progress, we were just planting the seeds of the gospel in their hearts. I trust that as we work hard everyday spreading this AWESOME message that we will find the chosen people that Heavenly Father wants us to find!
I love this gospel so much! I know that Christ is our Savior and I'm so grateful for the knowlege I have of his mercy and the power of his atonement! Not only to heal and clean our sins but to also give us comfort.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!!
Keep pressing forward!
