Colonia, Uruguay

Hermana Rocha

We are his hands

Hola Familia y Amigos!!

I hope you all are doing well!
One experience from this week that really stood out to me was on Saturday. Hermana Rocha and I had just left the house of a man who we had been hoping to teach, but he ended up being gone at work. So we decided to just do some contacting near that area. We walked down a particular street and saw some small condo like houses, all of the doors closed, except one, (In Uruguay everyone leaves their doors open if they are home!). I felt the spirit prompting us to go to this one door. We walked up and there was a older woman and two little kids inside! She invited us in instantly. MIRACLE because that never happens. My companion and I looked at each other like.... Who did we find. Turns out she is a less active member, who had not been going to church because she watches her grandchildren everyday until 4 - 5 in the afternoon. She continued to share her testimony with us . She said that she knows with all her heart that this is the true church and she wants to return but doesn't know why she can't. She shared with us her sister had passed away recently and she wasn't a member of our church and was wanting to do the temple work for her. We had the opportunity to help her remember that we can always return to the church, we don't need to wait for the perfect moment in our lives. We shared 1 Nephi 21:15-16 with her and it talks about How can a mother forget her child? That Jesus is the same, we are engraven in His hands. There are so many people who feel that they are forgotten to the Lord or that there isn't room for them in this church but there is! It was amazing to be able to meet this sweet sweet sister who just needed this reminder. I know that Heavenly Father guided us that day to her because of the spirit I felt in her home. I have gained a testimony during my time as a missionary that God does have a plan for us and he guides us everyday where we need to go.
On Saturday, we kept running into people that were less active, that were baptized but not attending church anymore. I know that this is because Heavenly Father knows them and knows thier needs, Just like he knows each of us individually.

Highlight of the week of course was my FIRST BAPTISM! Everything worked out perfectly. I can't quite describe the feeling that filled the room when Erika entered the font and was baptized, there was a JOY and a LIGHT that filled the room. I'm so so grateful for the opportunity to help her come closer to Christ through this convenant! Now she is on the path back to her Heavenly Father and I could not be happier!!

My area is right next to the Rio Plata or the river between Argentina and Uruguay! Today for Pday we as a District went to play volleyball on the beach and enjoy the sun!! After we ate some delish pulled chicken BBQ sandwhiches, The elders in my district can cook! Its a miracle!! It was super fun! Uruguay is so gorgeous!

Talk of the week is by Elder Gay, I believe the title is "Taking the name of Christ on Ourselves" from this last conference in October. Wow this talk changed the way I think about Charity and how to Love other people! It was so good. Go read or listen to it!

Thank YOU always for your love and support!!
I love YOU ALL!! Have a wonderful week!!!!
