This week was super awesome! I got my new companion, Hermana Rocha. She is from Brazil and is SUPER awesome!! She will be a huge help to me with my spanish and learning more about how to contact personas and teach more effectively. She is also super fun and this will be a great change to be with her!
This week we had a branch activity but Hermana Rocha and I had to plan and prepare it all like the day of! Becuase of the companion changes no one planed the activity..... so we gladly did. We had a Noche de Hogar (family home evening) and decided to talk and play a game about testimony. It was successful!! We shared parts of the Come Follow Me lesson from this week. It was how John gave testimony of Jesus Christ, simple and powerful. We had a great discussion about What is testimony? How we can share our testimony? We then compared our testimony to a balloon. How you need to work on it (blow air into it) for it to grow!!! By living the gospel, reading the book of mormon & praying will all help your testimony grow.
(The next part was ONLY for fun) We then played the game where you tie the balloon to your ankle and run around trying to step on each others balloons, obviously you should not try and break other peoples testimonies!! But it was a ton of fun and the spirit was definately present as we shared Alma 32:42 that talks about how as you have dilligence, and patience with your testimony you WILL see the fruits of your labors. We then ate some dulces to celebrate that having a testimony results in sweet fruits! It was a blast and the members looked like they were having a great time.
This week I really felt like a misisonary because we contacted a TON of houses and people in the street. We experienced all the things that missionaries talk about when it comes to REJECTION. Hermana Rocha and I had a conversation about finding people and about a talk by Elder Ballard when he promised missionaries, that if they contact 20 people a day, they WILL find the escogidos (selected) that the Lord has in their area. This is our META! We want to find those who are ready and thirsty for the gospel in Colonia Centro. I know that as we pray and are obedient as missionaries we will be lead and guided by the spirit to find those people. Its all about the Faith we have to find and listening to the spirit!
One super exciting thing is...... I will be having my first baptism this week!! We have been teaching this girl, Erica (13years old) for about 2 weeks. She came to church with her sisters who are members and found us and asked if she could be baptized! She seriously is the best! She has a lot of faith and is super amazing. I'm so excited for her to make this covenant with her Savior and partake of the blessings the gospel has to offer.
I know that Jesus Christ is at the head of this church and that this, missionary work is His work! I know that through his atonement we can find strength beyond our own to Forgive, to Love, to Work every day to become better because if we think we can't do it.... its because we can't. We need our Savior every day!!!
Les Amo mucho!! Por favor, tenga un buena semana y siempre recordar el amor de su salvador, Jesucristo. Hasta Lunes!!
Con mucho amor,
