Hermana Koford

Adventures of the week

Hello Family & Friends!!

This week was really great and also really crazy!

First Hermana Koford got sick and we needed to stay in for a day. It was sort of fun to have a whole day to just study the scriptures and clean the house! She is feeling better now which is a miracle!!
We had my first zone conference this week! It was really great. We talked a lot about how we can help people attend church on Sunday because that is the biggest weakness for the Uruguayans. Its important for us to share why we go to church each Sunday. Most importantly to take the Sacrament but its also important to strengthen the ward. With the ward members comments and support during classes it helps unify the ward. The scriptures also counsel us to meet together often and learn together! I know its so important to attend church on Sunday because of the power I have felt from it in my life. There is a special spirit that you recieve when you attend church each Sunday. I know that it's because when we are obedient our Heavenly Father blesses us!

After Zone conference, Hermana Koford was still not feeling well and another Hermana wasn't either so we decided to go on divisions (switch companions and go work). Hermana Avalos from Chile and I went out together and had a great time!! We did a lot of contacting and found some really great people. At one point we were looking for a house of a less active member but couldn't find it. We looked around and saw a older man and his granddaughter sittng in a car so we went up to them and asked them if they knew where this person lived. We ended up talking to them. The granddaughter was the daughter of a member of our branch who has not been going to church because of her work! Her mom, Marieta, was 5 minutos away and invited us in to talk with them. We shared Moroni 10:32 and talked about New Years goals. As we talked with them about this, their life and why they werenยดt going to church, she opened up to us about how she felt. She was struggling with her job and had been divorced not to long before and things were just not going as she planned. We had the opportunity to testify that God knows her and even though its not perfect now, that He is aware of her situation. That through Christ and his atonement we can make it through all that life gives us. The spirit was super strong and I just knew that we were lead to find her and her daughter that afternoon.

I also felt the power of the Gift of tounges that day! I was super nervous to go out and work with this Hermana because she only speaks spanish, but I as I opened my mouth I was suprised at how much I actually DO know! I was able to express my thoughts in the charla with Marieta and I know it was through this power, the Gift of Tounges!

This is the last week of this change with Hermana Koford! The last 6 weeks have flown by and I cant believe I am almost half way through my training! There really are miracles in the mission field. And I know that this is the last time that Heavenly Father is gathering his Childeren on the earth. Christ is the head of this church and He is on our right hand and on our left. I know he lives. I know that there is a Plan. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve my Savior and be His hands in Uruguay.

Have a wonderful week!! Love you all so much!!
