I'm sorry I haven't had a lot of time to write these past couple weeks - we have a lot of work to do!
I wrote this to the Mission President this week:
" I wrote in my journal that yesterday was probably one of the happiest moments of my mission. As we drove to sacrament meeting, our investigator Jose passed us in his car. His Dad who has been an inactive member for about a decade, was driving him to church, as he wore a white shirt and tie for the first time. During fast and testimony meeting, Jose got up and bore his testimony for the first time and said that he knew that this c
Church was true. That he had been to other churches but it didn't feel the same. I could hardly hold tears when it came time for him to receive the Holy Ghost. Our Bishop choked over some of his words as he blessed Jose to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. We might need to start teaching our investigators to "not high five their way over the spirit" because Jose fist pumped after they finished the confirmation. :)
He also received the Aaronic Priesthood that same day and is a little bit nervous to pass the sacrament but members will help him before Sunday comes. Tomorrow we will start his family history tree and work towards going to the temple to take those names the following week. This must be the Lord's work - there is no other joy that matches this one. Jose is not the Jose I met before, he is starting to become the Jose that Father knew long before this life.
13 And how great is his joy in the soul that repenteth!
14 Wherefore, you are called to cry repentance unto this people.
15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!
16 And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!
- Doctrine and Covenants - you go find it... :)
We are going to take him to start his family history tree this week and takes the names that he finds to the temple the following week!
We have interviews with President this week and hopefully all the people we talked to last week will be able to meet with us.
Love you all! Have a great week and think about the Savior as we approach Easter!
