Sorry for the lack of writing in these past couple weeks; things have been utterly CRAZY. We just had transfers two weeks ago but we also had "mid transfers" for the missionaries finishing their missions in the middle of the transfer. Usually this doesn't affect any other missionaries, unless their companion is finishing their mission and they are returning home, BUT we got a surprise call from the Assistants this last Thursday..... Our area was going to be taken over by the Elders and we were getting transferred to El Paso!! 😮 It's weird to be transferred in the middle of a transfer; hence: "Platform El Paso and 3/4's" (Harry Potter reference).
SURPRISE! So that was a shock for us but now I'm back down in El Paso, Texas with HERMANA BOSCH! We were companions back in May and I finished her training but now we're companions again - in my old zone! Soooo sorry to everyone to whom I just gave my address - it's changed again......
We had a branch Christmas dinner this past week and said goodbye to lots of people. We spent most of the last couple days packing and cleaning out the apartment - but I'm down here again in the promised land; excited to work hard and see miracles.
If you haven't watched it yet, watch the "Light the World" video! And then watch it again! And a third time for me! 😃
I am loving the Christmas Season as the world comes to focus more on Christ. We also just finished a Mission Tour with Elder Kevin W. Pearson from the Quorum of the Area Seventy and his wife. As leadership, we got to hear from him twice and he also spoke twice in our Albuquerque Stake Conference! ...So spiritually edifying! I took 18 pages of notes!! He based his comments on this statement by the apostle Jeffrey R. Holland:
"Brethren the spirit of this work is urgency, and we must imbue our missionaries and members with the spirit of now. N-O-W. We are not just waiting for natural slow growth. We must move more rapidly. We must take things up a notch. If we have to call down miracles or angels, then call them down. The drama is unfolding and we must do whatever it takes to ratchet up the work.
I feel an incredible sense of urgency. I feel such a sense of urgency in my chest that I can hardly breathe. Every dispensation begins with a vision. We must have a vision. We are the church that dreams dreams. We are the church that has visions. We must believe in miracles... We must believe and build on what our forefathers have done. We are just going to putter along, be average until we wind up to the level when our heart is up in our throat and if we opened our eyes, we would expect to see angels.
If this is God's work, and if He still lives, then the miracles and angels are still there. We must live up to our potential. God will bless us with whatever we need, God wants us to just see what he sees and know what he knows. He wants us to ratchet up the vision. God is easy to please and hard to satisfy. This is not convenient easy work.
We have got to take things to the edge... We have to move into the realm of the miraculous. We have to live in such a way that we cannot do it alone anymore, where we will resort to the Lord where we will cry, without thy help I will fall. Help me fly; to go to the edge where miracles happen. Move into the realm of the miraculous. Welcome to the apostolic work."
Jeffrey R. Holland, 1995 in Paris, France
We have to move into the REALM OF THE MIRACULOUS. The spirit was incredibly strong and we've already seen awesome results come from applying what he taught us. I hope all of you embrace the Christmas spirit and see the miracles all around you in your life!
