Happy Monday! Well these last six weeks have been nothing but calm to say the least. I've only been in Las Cruces for a short six weeks and now I'm being transferred back down to El Paso! This time I'll be working farther east in El Paso, opening up a new ward: The Montwood Ward! That area was covered by the Montana Vista Ward but is now being split into two wards! I am so excited to be training and working in this new ward!
This week we had a cool miracle! We had dinner with a less active sister in our ward on Tuesday - she made posole! A traditional Hispanic soup it is so good! She has several members of her extended family living in her home and so it's hard to tell who is who or who is related to who. Her family did other things around the house while we ate; occasionally grabbing food here and there or wandering in the kitchen. One of the younger girls about our age came and sat with us at the table and we started talking about her and her family. Eventually we started talking about the gospel and she had such a strong interest it took us aback a little bit at this point. Then about five minutes into our discussion she just goes, "When can I be baptized?" We about fell out of our chairs and kept reassuring her as nicely as we could that she didn't have to make a hasty in her decision. But she is so prepared beyond belief it is incredible!
I'm now being transferred to another area - but I am so grateful I was able to meet Laura and be a tiny part of her conversion. I hope that someday I can come back and visit and continue to help her and myself grow in conversion and testimony.
President Guffey also announced that they have set up a Mission Facebook Page titled: "Missionaries of the Albuquerque, New Mexico Mission 2016 - 19". They will be updating it occasionally with pictures and events from the mission so feel free to look it up if have a Facebook!
