Irkutsk, Russia

Sister Melton

I killled my Trainer

Not really but she is done with her mission and that is Mission slang for being her last companion lolol . im so clever
But anyway this week was awesome and crazy and SNOWED BUCKETS
so ya basically we just ran all over to all the babushki that Sister Wilson wanted to say bye to and it was way sad and at Nina's we both cried (i'm not even going anywhere) and ya it was great! Nina said the kindest things and like most of the time shes really crazy but she is an amazing woman who is so full of love for others and for God. Then we went to Antanina (the one who threw her cat out on the balcony in - degree weather) and Antanina was a little crazy but also so nice and gave us tea (herbal) and crackers and talked to us (well mainly just talked to herself while we smiled or gave little laughs). So Sister Wilson is gonzo and right now i have a temporary companion SISTER MACCABE and she was in the MTC with me and she is only a couple weeks ahead of we so neither of our Russian is really good (hers is WAY good though for being in Russia for 3 months. She took a lot of language classes before and also a class of Russian so her Russian is RIDiCULOUSLY GOOD). Sister MacCabe severed in Irkusk with me but there will no longer be 4 sisters in Irkusk and so she is leaving and I get my second trainer in a couple days!
Also today on our way to emailing a cute babushka asked us if we knew where some street was (we didnt) but it was such a great moment for us because if someone from this city asked US where something is, that means we dont look like total touristy Americans and that is so good! we local kine now.
Also fun story about Nina... (if any of you have seen Meet the Parents you might be reminded of this) we were painting her ceiling and her cat was scratching at the bathroom door and she let him in it and said "hes peeing" SHE TAUGHT HER CAT HOW TO PEE IN THE TOILET. and i mean ive never owned a cat so maybe this isnt news to anyone but anyway it had me cracking up.
Also there is this amazing lake here called Lake Baikal and Im gonna go sometime later (when it gets really cold, the entire lake freezes over, and this lake is like HUGE. one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. I want to go when its totally frozen and you can walk on it) and there are these seal things called Nerpas that only live here in Baikal and no where else in the world and they are super duper smart and we went to this Nerpa show and it was really sad and indoors and kinda a tinier home for them but they are SO smart and they did all these crazy things like add numbers and play instruments and the finale was the male nerpa gave the girl nerpa a boquet of flowers. Ya i know. I was laughing so hard. it was one of the greatest moments in my life. No pictures are allowed so you'll just have to look them up yourselves, basically, trust me, nerpas are THE BEST.
Also I ate so many delicous things this week and one babushka gave us "pizza" with mushrooms cooked so long they looked and sorta tasted like slugs but I also ate Bibimbop from a Korean Restaurant AND AHHH IT WAS SO YUMMY. Sorry Mom, it was a tad bit better than yours (but not that much). And I also got a little taste of America because even though they dont have mcdonalds here or taco bell they have KFC... yup idk why either. but it was way tasty and everyone says its better here than in America but like idk because I dont think ive even had KFC before in America lol.
So ya this was my week and I one of my favorite things I read this week in the Book of Mormon was Mosiah 2:41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
I love that becasue I do feel blessed and so happy when I decide to be obedient to God's comandments! God wants us to be happy and he has showed us the way. I love this church and I'm so glad for the opportunity to be serving a mission is Russia! Russia is the best and this gospel is the best!
