Wild week in the land of Boomer Sooners 1. i got bit by a squirrel 2. i got a squirrel to eat out of my hand. it's all about trial and error here ;)
Summer classes are still going on, pray for us this up coming week, finals happen then these happy campers are OUT OF HERE. Which means campus is gonna be DEAD.
the weather has been so nice this week! like almost chilly in the mornings and tolerable in the afternoons!! the evenings have been PRIME TIME on campus - it turns into a dog park and y'all already know i'm all over that !! My cute comp is allergic to fur so we're basically an unstoppable powerhouse - i initiate and do the petting, she does the talking.
ALSO - my cute new missionary has been tagged for ONE MONTH!! no one would ever guess, she's literally amazing and is so funny !! thankfully she thinks i'm pretty cool and lets me hang around ;)
I grew up in a family that celebrates the good, bad and the ugly. so we got bashed for the first time last night!! thankfully we got to pet a cute puppy seconds after we left so we brushed it off no problem. but hey, we earned our first "bash" stripe :)
But here's a good thing from last week -we hung out with our bestest friend Jenna and her cute cousin Jori, who was in town for the weekend. Funny how when people hang out with missionaries they usually hear A LOT about the gospel and Jori heard it all! Jenna had basically told her everything but we decided to share the experience of the First Vision with her. We invited her to put herself in place of Joseph Smith, as we shared the first vision her eyes welled up with tears. She's now the cutest person ever who LOVES the missionaries and the Book of Mormon :) yay for sharing the gospel
In my studies this week i was reading about hope. i'd stayed pretty strong up till this point but the grind of seemingly NOTHING going on in our area was getting to me.
Hope is an ABIDING TRUST. Similar to faith it's non contingent. IT IS SIMPLY ALWAYS THERE. i found some sweet scriptures about finding hope
Roman's 8:24-25 & Hebrews 6:10-20
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
I was not being patient with the Lord's timing. I had been giving my ALL for as long as i thought was necessary but was reminded it's all about the PROCESS and maybe the Lord required my all for just a tiny bit longer.
I am not sure what the Lord has in store, but I gained a calm reassurance in His promises. and that's enough for me. He has given and blessed me with enough light and knowledge to keep moving forward. These little bread crumbs of light have become a daily feast.
Friends i want you to know that sometimes we don't get to know the in's and out's of everything God does. Most of the time we don't. In Mark 4:26-29 it says just that. The planter didn't know how the seeds sprung up but he didn't lose any sleep over it. He harvested and kept going. Please keep planting. when we got bashed last night and other times in my mission usually the people want proof. "How this... Why that..." Sometimes the only answer i have is "I don't know HOW the (Book of Mormon is true or the Atonement of Jesus Christ works) BUT i know it is true. and that is does work. and that's enough."
Keep planting and sowing - there are so many blessings in store for us :)
