Ch 7 The Penn is Mightier than the Sword
(Not my best pun but I've got a scripture reference for it.)
One big-time benefit to getting re-assigned to Pennsylvania until I get my visa is that I got to stay at the MTC for a few extra days!
We have a devotional every Tuesday night, and this last devotional Elder Ronald Rasband, one of the twelve apostles, came and spoke. Let me tell y'all. My heart was powerfully touched as he shared his testimony of Jesus Christ. I'm thankful that we have these special witnesses today just as they did of old.
It is snowy here in PA! We are in Erie, a whole new longitude for me. It's a quiet town with lots of kind people, lots of elderly people, and they like to keep their little living rooms super warm so that's awesome.
We're are teaching a woman named Ruth and she's fantastic. She came to church this week with us and let me share with you something she told me when we were talking about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. She said,
"I'm so glad Jesus atoned for me, or I would be screwed."
Exactly!
Oh, I love this woman.
I'm in a trio! Two trainers, Sisters Haas and Herbert, who are both super patient with me when I break out into Portuguese! And with all of my inexperience. They're wonderful.
I know this is like the 4th address I've sent y'all, so sorry about that, but for the next 6 weeks the quickest way to get mail to me is to the address:

I love you all and I am so grateful for your support. There's a scripture in the Book of Mormon-
Alma 31:5 "And now, as the preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just— yea, it had had more powerful effect upon the minds of the people than the sword, or anything else, which had happened unto them—therefore Alma thought it was expedient that they should try the virtue of the word of God."
There is power in God's word. If you're experiencing something that seems to be overpowering you, open up a book of scripture. Pray before you do. The Lord will carry into your heart the words you need to heal.
