Last week, the day after I emailed you wonderful people telling you that I was for sure going straight to Portugal, I found out that my visa has not actually come through yet. And since I haven’t received it yet, I’ve been temporarily re-assigned to
PITTSBURGH PENNSYLVANIA!
Was I excited to go to Portugal? Of course. Am I upset that I have to wait a few more weeks for my visa? Not at all. I get to first preach the gospel I’m English, to Americans with similar experiences to me. Then I get to preach in Portuguese to Portuguese people with different experiences and perspectives! What a blessing!
Frankly, I’m working for a God of miracles. He can snap His finger and dry the seas, move mountains, or cause the earth to tremble. Surely He can get me a visa. If He needed me to be in Portugal right now, I would be. But He has a work for me elsewhere first.
I met an Elder from Portugal here who will be serving in Mozambique. We spoke Portuguese and were actually able to have a conversation! Both of us being novices in each other’s languages made it much easier to help each other communicate, and we had a good deal of compassion and patience for each other.
My companion Síster Darnell got her visa, and already left for Portugal this morning. I miss her, but I am SO excited for what’s next.
I’ve learned so much at the MTC, more than I can put in an email.
Let me share with you a scripture that has new meaning for me:
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Trust in Jesus! He knows your name. He wants to help you.
If any of you have questions or need some uplifting, don’t hesitate to email me!
Com amor,
-Sister Kendall
