Only 3 weeks left in Veneta :(

The subject is a little deceiving because I actually will probably be staying in Veneta for another 2 transfers hopefully. But I can't really guess anything because my mission president likes to pull some wild cards when it comes to transfers. But, I will get transfer news in 2 weeks so that's pretty excited!

This week went by so fast!

Thursday we had service at this homeless shelter! Every year this shelter puts on a thanksgiving "dinner" (it starts at 10 am that's why I said "dinner") that feeds over 2000 people! It's pretty incredible! Everything is homemade too! The culinary students from a college nearby make all the food so its top notch! Anyway, it was a zone service project so there was a lot of missionaries there to help! We got there 7 in the morning and it was FREEZING! We had to stand outside and help people shuffle into the Free store, where they got free clothes before getting their food. I met a lot of really interesting people but I had some good conversations! Witnessed a lot of fights and impatient people waiting to get inside, but overall it was a really fun experience! President and sister orton were there and it was just a really fun time to be all together before thanksgiving dinner.

3 Thanksgiving dinners! Hahaha the members here really are amazing! They love missionaries! Especially sisters ;). We first went to the storeys house, didnt eat anything but were able to meet their family, then went to the jones, then went to the oilars! It was such a fun day to be able to just be with members and create our own family memories with them! I love the members here!

Sister palmer is the nicest person ever! She brought us, with her family, to go cut down a christmas tree on Saturday! They had hot cocoa and christmas music and we got ot go out and pick out our own tree! It was so much fun! We have lights and decorations for it and everything! It smells so good too! I've never cut down my own christmas tree but that's definitely something that I will start doing because it was such a cool experiences!

We had a lesson with skylar on sunday and are trying to set up a Skype call with one of his buddies that's serving a mission so that he can teach him too! Technology is crazy and it's really cool to be able to be apart of something like this! We'll keep praying for him to progress!

Karen came to church!! She fell asleep during sunday school though hahah. So we asked her if she wanted to go walk around for a little bit and she said "yeah let's go get some fresh air". Little did I know she wanted to go outside so she could smoke a cigarette...hahah so I'm sure that looked super weird for anyone passing by. 2 missionaries, in the church parking lot with some lady just smoking a cigarette! Hahaha we haven't taught her the word of wisdom yet though so I'm hoping she'll be making some changes!

I've been doing my personal studies in 3rd nephi! I love 3rd nephi! It's all just so good! Its amazing to know that Jesus christ appeared to the people in the Americas after his ministry and death in Jerusalem! Just shows how God loves all his children and His gospel is the same all over the world! I also loved how after Christ had taught the people his gospel he could tell that the people still didnt quite understand everything so he says in 3 Nephi 17: 2-3

2 I perceive that ye are weak, that ye cannot understand all my words which I am commanded of the Father to speak unto you at this time.
3 Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again

Even when Jesus Christ was literally standing in front of them teaching them how they should live, he still asked them to go home and to ponder and pray for themselves to help them understand his word! That's how important personal study is! God has given us the opportunity to choose for ourselves to follow His son, so it's important that we study to know Him! Our relationship with God and Christ is personal, and we are never going to know how much they can bless our lives if we dont study for ourselves! I encourage all of you to start a habit of daily studying! Whether that be 5 mins or 1 hour, any study of Gods word is beneficial to our spirits!

Christmas is right around the corner! How lucky am I to be a missionary during this christmas season! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I Love you all! Thank you for reading my emails! Now send me one hahahah

Love Sister White :)
