41 wks(9Mo's+1wk): I'm not a teen anymore
I’M NOT A TEEN ANYMORE…
As of today, i am officially not a teenager anymore. Time to start acting more mature? Maybe. Best birthday present was that..... CARLOS CAME TO CHURCH!! WOOHOO!! He loved it. Got all emotional and everything during sacrament meeting. He has such a great understanding already of the doctrine, and doesn’t have any doubts. This past week, when we taught him about keeping the Sabbath day holy, he told us that this Sunday he was offered to work in some political event (there was a voting for presidential candidates or something yesterday) and so he told us that he might not be able to come. We bore testimony of how the sooner we start keeping God´s commandments, the sooner we start receiving the blessings from God´s commandments. That they´re not rules that bind us down, but that they actually make us free. Free
from Satan´s influence and power. A member that was with us, Ezequiel, explained who can help him out more, God, or politics? Carlos was able to answer that one himself. It was pretty cool cause i was able to share from personal experience how my family decided to keep this commandment by closing The Nursery on Sundays, and told him of all the blessings we received from doing so. Even if the statistics don’t work in our favor, nothing is impossible for God. Moral of the story, he found someone to take his place so that he could come to church!
We´re still working with Eugenia.... she´s taking baby steps, but at least that’s progress! We talked with her last week about keeping commitments, and she opened up to us and says that she wants to come to church and get more involved, but she struggles to keep commitments. She knows that it’s the right thing to do, and that she´ll feel good once she starts taking the steps, but she is scared of all the opposition that will come from her family and boyfriend, so it’s hard for her to start. She said her first prayer out loud though! That was pretty special. She was so nervous, but then after she did it, she felt so good.
It’s one of my favorite things ever to see people take steps in the gospel. Even if they are baby steps, they´re still steps, and that’s what counts. Something she said to me that MADE MY DAY was that, while talking about how she struggles to make the changes that she wants in her life, she goes "But after Hermana Miko told me about how she was able to change in the way she did with this gospel, it helps me feel like I can do it too" <3 <3 I love feeling that by sharing my own experiences, I can actually help people make changes in their lives as well.
TOMORROW WE GET TO GO TO THE TEMPLE!!!! SO STOKED ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY.
Aight, hope you all have a great week! For some of you, enjoy your last week of summer before school starts again!!
Love,
Hermana Mikolajcik
