Subject: Week 20!

Monday, March 14:

We cleaned our apartment top to bottom which was so nice! Haha, we had smokers revenge on the walls in the bathroom *smokers revenge is when drips of paint will fall down the wall because of the smoke from smokers..so basically the humidity pulls it out* satisfying, right? Haha, then we got to go shopping around storybook Washington with our sweet Kylie!

Tuesday, March 15:

We had Zone Council in Chesterfield! I got to sing Come Thou Fount and my favorite thing is looking up while I'm singing and seeing everyone's eyes closed. They're just listening and I get to invite the Spirit by using my talent! I also got to meet with President Bell. He told me I'm doing well and that he's proud of me! Which meant a lot. We drove home and had to run a few errands (got to see the Bennetts at Ozarkland and Sister Bennett bought us ice cream). We made some cookie dough at home, and then went to the Zimnicks!

When we left there, Brother Zimnick turned to me and gave me a really sweet compliment. He told me that he's seen so much growth in me and that he's noticed how I've become so much more comfortable and confident. That made my whole day.

We also had a really neat lesson with Jennifer. I'm thankful for her and her tender heart.

Tender mercy: The sun went down at 19 15!! I'm so used to it going down around 17 00 so it was so great to have that extra sunlight. After Jennifer's lesson, we drove to the Missouri River, rolled the windows down, played some good acoustic hymns, and did some finding but also closed our eyes to smell the fresh, warm air and the water. It's moments like those where I cherish life. I love the little things!

Wednesday, March 16:

One of my favorite days I've had so far on my mission by far. It was sunny and I'm so happy because Spring is here! So we grabbed a quilt to go out somewhere to start our companion study, locked the door behind us, and then seconds later realized that we locked the keys in the apartment! So we called Elder Sapp and while we waited for him, Sister Ravsten and I went for a nice walk to the Missouri River and sat on our quilt in the grass. It actually ended up being a beautiful tender mercy.

Elder and Sister Sapp got here with a key, and then they offered to take us to lunch! Here we are, the clumsy ones who forgot our key, and they're treating us to lunch for it! They are so kind. So we took them to Sugarfire which lemme tell ya, is the best barbecue restaurant I've been to. I loved getting that one on one time with them too.

We came home and started writing a song together! Then we baked cookies for our friends and drove to Machel's to have a lesson with her and Jayden. Afterwards, we got to toss a basketball around with Jayden which he always enjoys. We sure love the Kauffmans.

Thursday, March 17:

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We had such a busy day. Back to back to back appointments in Pacific! We got to bake baguettes with Bishop and delivered them throughout the day to our friends and to some ward members. I love busy days! There's really no way to describe what missionary life is like until you've experienced it yourself, but it was a great day.

Friday, March 18:

What the what! Missouri went from 65 and sunny to 40 and gloomy overnight. We did some farm work at Sam's which is always fulfilling!

Highlight: We had dinner with the Albretsens and I brought my guitar in to play! I ended up getting to play My Own Sacred Grove with them and all of the kids were singing along and it warmed my heart! They're so sweet!

Saturday, March 19:

First, Happy second birthday Summer!

It was a good day. We had a baptism for another cute little 8 year old and it's the best feeling hearing the sound of that water when they come up! Baptism is such a beautiful thing.

Thought: During personal study, I was reading through chapter 8 of Preach My Gospel on goal setting. A quote came across and this is my absolute favorite from this book! It reads, "The attitude you have toward your mission experience is a reflection of your love toward your Heavenly Father and His Son and your respect for the priesthood." After reading this, I reflected on what my attitude has been towards my mission. I made a column of the good and the bad and I decided to make a change in the way I view this work and this opportunity! Missions are a privilege and I want to soak up every single day. This will be gone in the blink of an eye, so why not enjoy it while it's here?! Being present allows you to be grateful for what you have when you have it! I've also learned the importance of laughing at yourself and continuing on. Something Sister DeMill would always tell me…"Keep Moving Forward!"

Sunday, March 20:

Church always makes me feel better. I got to sing "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" with Sister Jones and Brother Stratton!

The lyrics read,

"What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!"

"What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer."

"Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?"

"Jesus knows our every weakness, take it to the Lord in prayer."

I love this message. It tells of the great knowledge we have that Jesus is our Ultimate Best Friend! He is our Comforter, Foe, and Perfect Example.

I hope your week was great! Thanks for all your love and support!

Love, Sister Hansen
