Hermana Atkinson

Hola de nuevo soy yo

Thank you to everyone who sent me Happy Birthday messages. I LOVE YOU ALL!!! If you sent me something in the mail I may not get it till Thursday but I will receive it soon! Again I won't have a lot of time to spend on this email…. P- day with Zone went for so long but it was definitely fun! Got to see Hermana Carver again because she's in my zone now!!! It brought back memories of the CCM. Got to play chair soccer again, volleyball, and basketball. An Elder and I ran into each other during volleyball and I might have punched him by accident. Anyways, getting to be around amazing people just made my day! Also, my companion is the BEST she is from Florida and is the sweetest person ever!

Let's see... some interesting this week have been:

Got to go to Dutch Bros for the first time and got an orange Creamsicle shake which was 11/10. Get it!!!
I moved into a nice apartment complex and I got my own bathroom!
Apparently, I'm part of the Facebook profiling group for the Spanish people
Got to have the Dia de Los Muertos party at the East stake center with all the Spanish missionaries and got to eat food from all different countries. See different dances and helped with family search
I get to go running in the mornings in the boujee neighborhoods where the houses are like billionaires/millionaires. We get to rate them while on the run
My companion and I got lost while running because I was trusting that she knew where to go but she didn't… we ran for 32 minutes straight and I died
The Mckees (the couple missionaries) made me an oreo cake, lasagna, taco soup, and salad!!!! They had a little party for me after church… I kind of broke my fast
I made my own birthday cake with my companion !!!! We had so much fun making a mess in the kitchen but it was all worth it!
Saw a rainbow! It's been raining a lot here in California
I can understand people speaking Spanish for the most part and can actually hold a conversation with them!!! I'm improving!!
Went to the mall around here and it is gigantic and apparently, I got free stuff there because of my birthday!!!
Found out there are Tongan-speaking missionaries here in our zone! They are amazing sisters!
We have Elders in our ward so that's a big help!

Spiritual thought:
Fast Sunday!! Even though it was on my birthday I decided to fast and I felt prompted to share my testimony …in Spanish … about changing through Christ and becoming closer to him. I shared Alma 5: 7&12 which are:
7: Behold, he changed their hearts; yea, he awakened them out of a deep sleep, and they awoke unto God. Behold, they were in the midst of darkness; nevertheless, their souls were illuminated by the light of the everlasting word; yea, they were encircled about by the bands of death, and the chains of hell, and an everlasting destruction did await them."
12: And according to his faith there was a mighty change wrought in his heart. Behold I say unto you that this is all true.
I can truly say that this mission has brought a change to my heart to become closer to Heavenly Father. It is truly changing me to become a better person. I know that Christ is always by my side and he hears my prayers. I say that in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
